  • My late father's most favorite movie. We put a copy of the movie in his casket for him. I miss you Dad.
  • Love him or hate him, the man knew what was going on when other Generals didn't have a clue.

Extend the scene a bit and Patton laments not being able to give that German pilot a medal.

I don't know why, and I've seen this movie who knows how many times, but every time that chicken lands on the desk I just crack up.

Saw this movie with a shipmate, now retired, with whom I served on the USS Saratoga. One of the best damn war movies I've ever seen.
  • @TheHistoryGuy
One of many scenes in the movie that seem almost unreal to believe, yet it really did happen pretty much like this.
  • Left out the best part when Patton asked if he staged it said no, but hed give the pilot a medal (for his timing.)

“It’s bad enough I have to wet nurse Montgomery...”. Patton was making himself clear to his British counterpart: I’m not going to let myself get steamrolled by my peers.

Hard to imagine any air commander claiming to have air supremacy at that time, in that region. Perhaps this was the scriptwriters having a bit of fun.
  • @Jagdpanther226
“You will see no more German planes” Tell that to the Heinkels that just buzzed in.
  • I figure the following would be appropriate Sir Arthur: You’ll see no more German planes Pilot of the attacking plane: Hold my beer
  • @twintailMedia
I just wish patton said "so how about your reports about total air superiority over the Mediterranean"
  • Wars are won on the ground...air supremacy is absolutely necessary to win.
  • @adamsmith3413
The irony is that Patton had a better relationship with his air commander than any other general in Europe. It’s was sad that General Spaatz was unable to be at Patton’s grave service so he buzzed the graveyard.
  • I knew a few of pattons foot soldiers, His personal chaplain during the great Battle of the bulge who is a member of my church. Funny my dad had George Patton Junior as his commanding officer during Vietnam at his base

Like many pseudo biographies, Patton skipped through the years to present a collection of larger than life happenings and memories. George C Scott was incredible in this role and the rest of the cast stood right along with him. Patton understood war as only a handful of elite generals, chieftains, and other leaders have over the eons of time. RIP General George Patton!

I wonder if General Patton would have cared for Joe Biden
