Hundreds of helmeted police breached barricades at a pro-Palestinian encampment on the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) campus early on Thursday. The police dismantled the camp, arrested protesters, and removed them from the UCLA campus.

Supporters of the student protesters called the university's decision to bring in police and other law enforcement agencies "illegitimate" and "outrageous".

"I think in a place like UCLA where they tell you this is a place to have a free exchange of ideas and to learn about the world, yet when you stand up for Gaza, this is what happens?" Luna Hernandez, a community organizer, stated.

During the pre-dawn crackdown, loud explosions were heard from flash-bang charges or stun grenades fired by police during the clash. Later in the morning, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol confirmed that there were no injuries on both ends after police swarmed the site.

Be nice to see these students go volunteering in Gaza and make a real change instead of just yelling from their privileged locations. I have little tolerance for blocking roads and bridges being the big sacrifice they are making. Do some humanitarian work please…. That is what will make a real difference

They should be studying not fake worry over Palestine.

Girl you are messed up. This carrying on isn't doing anything.
  • This type of protesting does nothing to get people to see your beliefs! All it does is make people look at you as trouble makers! You cannot take over buildings or tenancy! That is breaking the law! Try acting like adults and protest with out violence, bullying, and sit down and have a real discussion!

Its time for the students to learn today. Legal Lesson of the day. If you barricade yourself in a building. What laws did you break? A. Trespassing B. False imprisonment C. Hate crime. D. All of the above? 😂

Campuses allow and encourage free exchange of ideas yes, but not when that free exchange infringe on other students' freedom to use university grounds and freedom to a safe learning environment.

No message is being received. Just chaos.
