  • The sassiness of the old man is amazing, like he can’t even walk but he still walks away sassily
  • You know it's a good story, when the emotions of the people in it are directly reflected onto the one who is watching....

“Real disability is living without his wife.” That hit me like a punch to the chest.

Philippe Pozzo di Borgo was a Corsican French businessman who was the director of Pommery and was the owner of an inherited historic hôtel particulier in Paris used as a function hall. Wikipedia Born: 14 February 1951, Tunis, Tunisia Died: 1 June 2023, Marrakesh, Morocco This movie was beautiful. May he rest in peace

The fact that they still continued their friendship after they both got married had my worries covered.
  • This is so wholesome. The fact that it’s a true story is even better.

What an incredible story of human compassion and trust. This shows that goodness transcends all boundaries.

My mother had the same fun relationship with the lady she used to take care of who had Parkinsons. Long story short, the lady's family only came around to ask for money and once they knew she had a decent caretaker they stopped contacting her and didn't check on her for nearly two years. My mom became the beneficiary for everything the lady had because she felt her family didn't deserve it and she had no children anyway. She said her family had gotten enough money out of her anyway. So we went from homeless to more than comfortable thanks the this kind lady who truly appreciated my mother. We are still so upset that she passed so soon. But we are grateful for what this lady had given us and the time we had with her. Sometimes blood is not thicker than water.

We have a quadriplegic in my family and the same caretaker for almost 10 years now. That woman is a Saint on earth and we consider her part of the family, since she's at every family function and holiday. She's so dedicated to her patient that we have to force her to take vacations sometimes; she doesn't trust anyone else to take care of my relative and worries about them on days off. It's truly amazing how compassionate some people can be. Live-in caretakers are just on another level. True angels.
  • My dad was a c2 quad for the last 3 years of his life and me and my sister took care of him. Most mentally taxing experience I can ever imagine, aside from being the one actually paralyzed

My mom was an in home nurse for a quadriplegic man who was also non verbal, but was fully aware. He used a computer to communicate. After some time, my mom started bringing my siblings and I to visit him. We'd visit and go to the mall where he would buy us all ice cream. We started to call him Grandpa Jerry. This relationship lasted for decades until his passing a few years ago. I'm happy that we were able to bring joy to his life and that he brought joy to ours. Its a very difficult thing to be trapped inside your body like he was, but good relationships made life so much better.

Ive watched this and absolutely adore the man who plays Driss. Hes in Lupin, and a multitude of over things, and i just love the way he acts.

This is a great film, hilarious and accurate portrait of the carer's experience - I'm a first time carer for a young woman with cerebral palsy who has good speech and head control but no motor control below the neck. She is independent and stubborn with a dark sense of humour, and we have a lot of great banter, but there's also times she's in pain due to her muscle tone which is made worse by anxiety, and I have to help calm her down. She also has to navigate the extra complexities in dating, and I appreciate this film showing disabled people having romantic lives and needs just like anyone else. I like that Driss is from Senegal, a lot of my colleagues are immigrants from a very wide varieties of backgrounds and cultures. So I really appreciated this film.
  • I saw this movie a while back and I can't recommend it highly enough. The leads have great chemistry, and the story is really well put together. If you don't mind watching a movie in French then give this one a go.
  • Driss's and Phillipe's friendship is absolutely heartwarming and wholesome.. Driss was with phillipe in both sad/difficult and happy moments.. He was the definition of what a true friend is all about.. The movie showed so many difficulties and problems that both driss and Philippe experienced and yet those two didn't lose their smiles.. Such a beautifully created movie

I just love how driss just treats him like a normal person, encouraging to do more things everyone else can do. That’s amazing. Often when people look disabled (such as having Down syndrome), they are automatically treated like a child and kind of ignored.
