Bible Babe discusses Feelings

Published 2023-06-15
The Bible has many references to emotions and feelings. In fact, it acknowledges that we are emotional beings, and that our emotions can influence our thoughts and actions. This should never be at the expense of God's word. As our feelings can come from our fleshly desires and selfishness which can be at odds with God's will.

Some examples of biblical teachings on feelings include:

Love: The Bible teaches that love is a powerful emotion and one of the most important commandments. For example, in 1 Corinthians 13:13, it says, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

Joy: The Bible teaches that joy is a fruit of the Spirit and that it is an essential component of a believer's life. In Galatians 5:22-23, it says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

Sadness: The Bible acknowledges that we will experience sadness and grief in our lives. In Ecclesiastes 3:4, it says, "a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance."

Anger: The Bible cautions us about the dangers of uncontrolled anger. In Ephesians 4:26-27, it says, "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold."

Fear: The Bible acknowledges that fear is a natural emotion but encourages us to trust in God and not be afraid. In Psalm 56:3-4, it says, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid."

Overall, the Bible teaches us to acknowledge and manage our emotions in a healthy way, to love one another, and to trust in God even in the midst of difficult emotions.

I feel this is an important message. Earthly Desires and feelings are of the flesh and will send people to hell due to the sins that are committed by chasing feelings. We are not to lean on our own emotions but trust him. ❤
