Ford provided Carroll Shelby with an engine for his start up sports car company and AC supplied the bodies. Shelby hired a bunch of hot rod builders in California and they created the Cobra.

Soon Ford turned to Shelby to beef up the Mustang and turn it into a Corvette beater. The GT 350 was born.

But there was more. Henry Ford II had tried to buy Ferrari and was spurned. Not one who was used to losing he decided to beat Enzo Ferrari on the track. After Ford's first forays stalled they turned to Shelby to beef up the GT 40s and take on Ferrari.

Pete Brock, Ken Miles and Dan Gurney put the cars through their paces.

This is amazing. What a privilege to be able to watch this in 2019.
  • @colderbeer
It's 2019, and thanks to the film FORD vs FERRARI everybody is gonna finally know who KEN MILES was.......rest in peace Mr Miles, and Mr. Shelby.
  • ”My name’s Carroll Shelby, and performance is my business.” -Carroll Hall Shelby Best quote of all time. There’s absolutely no replacement for a man like Carroll Shelby. Rest in piece.

I met Carroll in 1993 and had the chance to thank him for the 1986 Shelby Charger front end and handling package which saved my life when I hit a deer. The car spun end over end along the side of a cliff, never actually leaving the ground, landing on the road in the opposite direction with the motor still running! Any other car I've owned would have flipped and probably gone over the cliff. I was able to drive it home, another 100 miles. His simple response was "Yeah, that was a great little car."

That one dislike was from Enzo Ferrari himself from beyond the grave. xD
  • “Like next year at Le Man maybe?” “It could really be a winner there.” They have no idea that the next couple years will make history
  • Im a 16 yr old boy who prefers racing cars from the 1960s and 70s instead of the modern racing cars in 2019!
  • This show has more knowledge in reference materials than 2 hours of modern programming. The production of the show is classic 60s. What a gem to watch. Note how there is no rant. This is all business. It is wonderful to see Mr. Shelby on top of the world and giving us a lesson on everything from business, to cars and racing. Thank you for posting!
  • This is an old (circa 1965) promotional film on Shelby's development and testing of the Cobra, GT350, and Ford GT. It's worth watching, if just for the great driving instruction by Pete Brock with drivers Ken Miles and Dan Gurney.

This is Gold, Shelby the racing God introduces a pantheon of racing legends - Miles, Gurney and Brock, like hes introducing personal friends to you personally. He was a really cool and gifted communicator.
  • @sirjammer
the GT-40 is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
  • @patrickmingle
Wow. So they have no idea how great the GT40 is yet

One of the high lights of my life was winning a 3 lap tour at Portland International Raceway with Carroll Shelby in a 427 Cobra.  This was back in the early 90's after his heart transplant.  Had to sign my life away to go out with him but I thought what a way to go!
  • @Bramon83
Here after Ford v Ferrari. What an amazing movie. Go see it.
  • It’s a special moment in your life when you hear thunder in the sky above and realise it is Ken Miles up there changing gears and sneering at the other drivers in his rear vision mirror.
  • @Scootchels
Myles, Brock and Gurney. What a dream team, and seeing Carroll’s top creations in one place...the golden age of racing.
  • @markthorne3414
I meet Shelby  at Le Mans, Great driver, and developer , Cobra was his first car he moved forward on, Ford was not his  first  choice of engine to start with, ,but ford was the only company to help him out with a engine, and like he says ,the rest is history,
  • @mareksamel5334
What this man and his crew first dreamed off and than followingly realized in only 5 years in motorsport is so stunning and unbelievable as those 59 dislikes...
