Very enjoyable drive! Anyone digging deep into the archives can see a very different Callander, for about 60 years ago it was Tannochbrae, the location of the TV series, "Dr Finlay's Casebook". A lovely little town it was, even in black and white. But at 1.00 into the video, what a hideous monstrosity in historic Stirling in the shape of that mock timber-framed building painted in black and white! There's a fine group of small towns in Herefordshire known as the "black and white towns", on account of their timber-framed buildings. How fine they look, because they belong there and are authentic. They don't belong in Stirling. How was such a travesty allowed to be perpetrated on this architecturally sensitive area?
