  • When the new engine comes in, you should do another recorded teardown to see if there are any issues with it.

That's brutal quality control. A regular consumer isn't getting a free replacement engine.
  • @Heurecka
"They didn't even test fire it?" "They know what they're doing by now." mhm aged like milk
  • The first thing you need to do with the next engine is tear it down and look for problems! Then, after the truck project is done, use both crate engines in a new HI / LOW project where you start with identical engines instead of identical cars.

gotta love the kind of customer service you get when you are a social media company

This is insane. When the video started, I was thinking "there's no way I'd take apart a freshly build engine that was done by professionals". After what you found, I'd be measuring the bores, getting a straight edge on the deck and heads, checking the ring gap, and weighing each of the pistons. And I'd do the same on the new engine too. Excellent video, please do keep us updated on anything else you find, and the same with the new engine too.
  • That's CRAZY. Those aren't just "issues", this engine would destroy itself real quick if you just decided to run it without checking.
  • I have a 1971 VW Bug project and ordered an engine built from a "reputable" shop here in Arizona. The engine was supposedly brand new, 0 miles. I didn't get to run it until a year after I purchased it. During this year gap, the shop closed "due to Covid". When I finally ran the engine, it blew up after about 15 minutes of running. Turns out the builder forgot to install the circlips on one of the pistons.

Cripes, you bought the Friday 4:30pm end of shift engine. "Beers ain't getting any colder...fuck it, ship it"
  • @mason4683
They're sending you an entire extra engine because of those issues? You get to keep the old one? Is that what they'd do for people without YouTube channels? Because that would be some wild customer service

The corvette and camaro at the beginning don't use LS engines, they use LT engines. Might seem like quibbling, but there's almost no interchangeable parts between the two
  • Holy hell. GM better be watching this! Missing wrist pin clip and bearing chewed up, thats insane on a 15k drop in package.
  • This channel probably saved my life. Over the past 8 or so months I lost my job, my girlfriend of five years is moving, I became depressed and my relationship with my family became strained or completely broken with some members, then as a final fuck you from life turns out I have colon cancer. I had zero energy to do anything. I had completely given up. Didn’t even eat for days. Or get out of bed. Then one day my cousin gifted me his old 07 Charger out of nowhere. It’s completely fucked. Electrical problems up the ass won’t even start but I’m slowly working on it. Then one day it was somehow okay enough now to go struggling around on solitary midnight rides around town… then suddenly my forgotten childhood passion of cars was rekindled. Next I found this channel donut and I was suddenly back to my childhood days making models or playing with my dozens of hot wheels all with customizations I crudely but passionately made using clay, poster paint, pipe cleaners, parts from other hot wheels, LEGO, anything I could get my hands on. I remembered playing fast and the furious with my toys and all the storylines and narratives and the made up jargon I used to sound legit. I remembered how cars were the beginning of my interests in engineering, robotics, chemistry, and technology. I kept watching donut videos and having so much fun I was able to get out of bed to go see if I can work on the Charger, make plans for it, try to drive her or simply just be an actual human again. I’m still low key fucked and so is the Charger. lol but for the first time in long time I have hopes and dreams and I’m finding meaning and purpose in my life. Even if it’s in something as simple as remembering to eat or getting out of bed. Or something more grand like my dream of having my Charger running and looking like a BEAST. I’m living life again. I have energy and motivation again. So from the bottom of my heart. Thank you.

I’m a ford tech and I can confirm that brand new engines come in with problems all the time. Especially with timing. These new engines are built on production lines that the manufacturers keep going at full speed and these problems happen all the time. The problem is that the manufacturers found that it’s cheaper to warranty the new engines than slow down production for a better product. It just kind of sucks for us….
  • @MachoMandem
Love how they are giving you a new engine to clean up after their tracks, hoping you guys wouldn't release the footage. Well done for not holding back! Informed the public of a possible easy money tactic since race motors blow up all the time and they'd get away with the premature engine failure without being questioned. Now they have got to pull up their socks, at least momentarily.
  • @ExCordeEnt
I love these engine teardown videos that you are doing. Honestly makes working on engines a little less intimidating
  • @CheekyMenace
Jeremiah and Zach together always makes for a fun episode.

I worked for the detail department at a GM dealership and the amount of brand new vehicle's that come in with issues are astonishing! One in particular was a brand new Yukon, price tag was like $112k. As i was cleaning it for delivery i found a quarter sized hole in the lower portion of the passenger door. At the assembly plant they just threw on a door that was suppose to have a trim option, but never installed the trim so the holes for the trim were exposed to the elements. Should have seen the look on the salesman face when i told him about it. Customer had already been waiting 6 months for it, within an hour the customer was there and eventually said they didn't want the Yukon anymore.
