  • I was working in Winchester whilst this movie was being made and Burton was staying at the hotel where I was working. I was on room service and he was constantly ordering drinks and refills for the ice bucket. He and the camera crew were all good tippers

At 31 minutes they walk past three people repairing props for the show. I’m the one on the left. Having seen Sophia Loren so close up I have been in love with her ever since.
  • Sophia looked at her exotic best when she was in her 40s, as she was in this movie. She's now approaching 90, but still looks elegant and distinguished. Just for comparison, my grandmother is now in her 90s and she still remember the legendary Sophia as one of the great actress of the past 60 years. I am still in my late 20s, but have watch most of her most popular movies for the past 10 years.
  • At 50 mins when they’re driving along and they stop at the accident, I’m in the group of horse riders by the side of the road. I was only 11 in 1974, it was filmed in the New Forest which was where I kept my pony, that’s how I got involved as the film company came to the stables where I kept her and wanted some riders. It took all day to film, there was 5 of us and I got paid £60 which was a lot of money to me then.

I’ve always been a huge fan of David Lean’s Brief Encounter. When this one came out I was kind of excited because I’m absolutely over the moon fan of Sophia Loren. The Film film did not disappoint. It had a different feel but it was really good. To me, speaking as a woman, I think Sophia Loren is one of the most absolutely beautiful women that has ever lived. She’s just amazing, even in old age!
  • Sophia Loren and Richard Burton were a fantastic harmony in this movie. Sophia Loren is a timeless gorgeous actress. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉

  • I love this movie...Sophia Loren, as usual, never disappoints...She's, to me, the most beautiful, breathtaking and brilliant actress, of her era...She owns every scene, of every movie, she has ever been in...Long live the Queen of the silver screen!

Two actors of gigantic dimension. The story has gained much from their sense of drama acting. Very good movie of rare quality. Thanks, The World of Burton
  • I noticed that Carlo Ponti produced and directed this movie. He was Sophia Loren’s They were married in 1966 and remained married until his death in 2007. 41 years. Quite a long marriage. It’s encouraging for me to realize that there’re are still people who remain married to the same person one of them dies. 😊😊😊😊

Extraordinary the way Noel Coward struck a chord with this simple story. It is so simple so true, experienced by so many.
  • I loved it. I will watch it again and again-it is very touching. Many people go through life married to people that they never should have even dated. This is a prime example of how things end. He walked away because he loved her. She stayed because she loved her husband. But, she loved him too.
  • I have watched this story few times , i simply love it easy and relaxing fantastic cast the voice of Richard Burton is so smooth , and soothing Sofia as well , she sounds always real not acting, . the surrounding autumn colours in the places so soft and lovely all so good and of cause. the story ! Interesting, it ended with very prudent way, and not in selfish way, for the sake of sacred family, although sad for their love to be ended, thank you for playing , I always share what i love!!!

Thanks for posting, there  are no stars like Burton anymore

Surprisingly good film. And it's a tragedy that the soundtrack has never been released.

I prefer David Lean's version because a) being B&W it provides a more poignant mood, and b) because of Rachmaninoff's piano concerto. Also, the actors Celia J and Trevor H are rather ordinary-looking people which makes them perfect for the story. Sophia L is far too attractive and beautiful to be convincing in the role of a bored suburban housewife.
