Many years ago, Brian David Gilbert and Jonah Scott talked about how most of ABBA's music could be sung by Halloween villains. This year, they turned that 3 minute conversation into a full album.

Remember when Brian "wasted" 3 weeks of his life finding Castlevania's hottest monster? Well, we just found him.

the end where it zooms and becomes monochrome red and high contrast is peak filmmaking fr

"...And they've been pretty ˢᶜᵃʳᶜᵉ" I am laughing literally every time. The change in the voice, the face and the music is just chef's kiss, it's incredible.

As a lifelong ABBA fan, I have some sequel album suggestions for Brian "Slipping through my fingers"; a soliloquy by Edward Scizorhands "Hasta araña"; 3 minutes and 9 seconds of straight spider puns "Waterloo" as sung by the tortured, vengeful ghost of Napoleon "(Biblically Accurate) Angeleyes" about the eldritch horror that is the ophanim (🎶one look and you're vaporiiiized~🎶) And finally, "if it wasn't for the Knight"; in which a fiendish sorcerer rants about the hero foiling his wicked and sinister schemes All free to use for anyone seeking to make the words second-best Halloween themed ABBA cover album [EDIT] I know it's currently the middle of July but I remembered this existed and came up with more: "The Visitors" where it starts as usual, but becomes increasingly obvious the singer has been abducted by aliens "When I Kissed the Creature" in which a cryptid fanatic takes things a little too far "Me and I" as a dysfunctional duet between Jekyll and Hyde. "Disillusions" sung by the tormented protagonist of an HP Lovecraft novel I'll be back if I come up with anything funnier lmao (also the replies on this are great. good job everyone)

The real hottest Castlevania monster was inside you all along, Brian

I absolutely love how this is a vampire pleading with a mortal to not share their blood with another which implies it’s a consensual relationship between them.
-
i feel like we should adress the chorale at the end because holy shit karens voice is positively angelic

For reasons I truly don’t understand, this is 100% unironically the favorite song of my 5 year old and 2 year old. The 2 year old demands it on every car ride although he has a hard time saying vampire song so he kinda just yells “Sapphire!” at me until I put this on. This is not just an October thing either. This is just the peak of music to them. I’m so proud.

The dark rings around his eyes, the mustache, and the lanky frame just make me think of Waluigi. So now I can't unsee Waluigi dressed up as a camp vampire singing a Halloween themed ABBA song.

I wish I understood how your brain worked.

3:46 is the exact moment where the same chorus transitions between "goosebumps title effect and low quality 3-d pumpkin visuals to the beat w a cheesy vamp costume" to "emotional dramatically lit musical performance" within like a second. and both sides of the horizon are good in completely different ways. stg this bitch rolled a 20

I am literally obsessed with BDG's karate chops while singing "that was that"
-
love the way he throws himself into every single role
-
My favorite thing about Brian singing is that he’s in “comedy” mode for like 75% of the song—still good singing, mind you, but casually—and then he transitions into extremely talented tryhard vocalist when it is most essential
-
What We Do in Shadows needs to give him a guest spot. I imagine Laszlo would either hate his guts or be quite impressed.

Fun fact, this video is in 4:3 aspect ratio because 4 is the number of letters in ABBA and 3 is also a number
-
finally an album to knock the monster mash off its pedestal

If I ever run Curse of Strahd, this is how I’ll play AND introduce Strahd.
