  • You explain carburetor and fuel pump rebuilding very well. Thank you for taking the time to video this.

Great job Jake! A wealth of Kohler info...head, valves, carb tips and fuel pump...thanks for sharing your knowledge to keep the old K series going
  • @novanut1964
i almost lost my mind, wanting you to spray lube on the intake valve and piston rings while you were working the exhaust valve. good video
  • good work man..was made back when Kohler put together a fine engine , Not like these lawn mower engines that rattle like a box of marbles that they make now .. ENJOYED !

Used propane powered Kohler power units for years. They are very dependable.
  • Information for these older Kohler power plants seem to be few and far between. I recently acquired a K181EP 3kw unit from an auction. Hopefully one day I'll get to it. Great video and detailed information indeed! Blessings and respect!

We had quite a few of these 3500 watt gen sets in our rental equipment fleet back in the 1970's. They all ran like a watch. smooth and reliable, as you said. We had a few like this one you have, then 4, 5,000 watt Kohlers with the twin cylinder engine, and a few more of the 10,000 watt sets powered by the 3 cylinder Lister Diesel Air Cooled engines. ( Man, I wish I'd kept one of those 10CM061's.) Good to watch you bring this back to life again.

You got that running real good. The choke stove on the small engine is a new one for me. Good to see you again. Stay well πŸ”§πŸ‘

Thanks for sharing this video. I would enjoy watching more like it and as often as you post them. Well done, informative and entertaining!
  • If you aren't concerned about "all original" I've replaced that fuel pump for the reason you mentioned, with a pulse type fuel pump. I made a block off plate with a hole tapped for 1/8 pipe and mounted it {with a gasket} where the original pump went. Then installed a 45 or 90 degree pipe thread to 1/4" hose barb. Make sure the hose end points up so oil can't build up in the line. Connect that hose to the pulse input of the new fuel pump, connect the fuel lines and you are good to go. Did this on my '83 10hp Wheel Horse snow plowing machine. Works great! Keep up the great work!

Quiet little bugger! Looks to be a very nice unit. Check the output freq. Good education on the engine cleanup. Thanks for the look!
