Today we delve deep into the Dubai desert, looking at what could have been one of the most iconic instalments for Universal Studios parks. With preliminary construction completed, the project was stopped dead in its tracks after a major global shift in the economy. Join me as we take a look at what could have been one of the most influential theme parks of the Middle East.

Well on a slightly lighter note I'm willing to bet when the project was cancelled, they all said "Gubai", am I right? i'll just see myself out because I was trying too hard.

It’s been a while since the last Cancelled episode! Wishing you a very Happy New Year

Honestly, the whole Dubai land project is just crazy.. and I’m not surprised that it failed. Also u mentioned that LEGO land Dubai also was canceled, but it wasn’t, it’s actually opened now in a place called “Dubai parks and resorts” just liked to point that out. But great video nonetheless!!

I’m just wondering who would want to be in a theme park in 110 degree weather in the middle of the summer while waiting one to two hours for a ride.
  • I like BSF videos because I learn a lot about things I otherwise don't know much about, like theme parks.
  • @ToucanLDM
Huh. I assumed this project was still going on. Oh well. Though it is weird seeing the iconic Universal Studios archway left abandoned somewhere.

Once again, Bright Sun has fulfilled my bizarre hunger for amusement/theme park trivia.

My dude. You make professionally made docs look like Jersey Shore. Yeah, my references are dated. I'm old. Stay off my lawn.
  • @Larry
Universal are also building one in London. With Doctor Who and Top Gear rides announced. What we get for not nurturing creativity in our country :(
  • @iSevenSimmer
I saw it comin!! I don’t live that far from that arch, ever since I was a kid I always wondered when will they continue building it, but as I grew up that excitement just faded away..

Excellent video. Your content is so professional, it belongs on TV.

You probably won't see this; but I've been going through a tough time mentally recently, and watching your videos on Disney/Universal attractions and parks has really helped me out. (as ridiculous as that sounds). Reminds me of a simpler time in my life. Anyway, thanks for creating such great content. I've subscribed and hit that bell that button, so look forward to more in the future!

You should do an ABANDONED video on Sydney's Monorail Network. It was pretty spooky seeing the random monorail stops hanging in the sky for years.
  • @crowfamily2011
Nice job on this Jake. I always look forward to watching these!
  • @walnuthead
OMG. i remember seeing that universal studios sign and being REALLY confused lol
  • This was super interesting. I always love all of your theme park stuff, but your Universal episodes are particularly interesting since Disney has such a cult following that a lot of the information is readily available, whereas fewer people make content on Universal, especially content with this quality level. You guys are one of my absolute favorite channels, keep up the outstanding work!
