I've had a lot of other drivers zip around in front of me then suddenly slow down to turn. No it's not in the thinking to just hang tight and wait the 3 more seconds.

What were you doing with your camera in the beginning? Did you turn away from looking ahead to film something behind you? That is illegal and distracted driving, no?
