They get offered shelter but they refuse to take it. they rather sleep on the street than go to a shelter and get clean

Mental illness and addictions are why many don’t want to go to a shelter or hotel. They would rather live in the streets and do what they want to do. I have worked with the homeless and the aforementioned is 85%-90% of the community.

The deli owner can't have it both ways. He wants the encampment sweeps, but he wants them removed humanely.

The guy is offered a clean, comfortable FREE hotel room and he rejects it. THAT is when the handcuffs need to come out.

u know why they dont want a hotel? they have to be clean...no alcohol, no drugs etc.

I was homeless when my rent went from 1400 a month to 2500 am month. I do not drink or do drugs. I agree a lot of homeless folk do have drinking, drug or mental health issues. However I know sever homeless people who are economically displaced who do not do drugs or drink. And some are senior citizens whose social security can not pay the rent. Create affordable housing and jobs that pays a living wage.

You can only give so much when they don’t want to accept. Then you have to move you can’t block the sidewalks or sleep wherever and do whatever

Hard to be empathetic towards folks who refuse shelter and just want to clog up the city streets.

Shouldn’t be giving people who dont work a free place to live other than a shelter. Its unfair to the people who work and are responsible members of society

My brother has been homeless for years. He is an alcoholic & meth user. He prefers homeless camps because he doesn't have to follow any rules.

Leasing hotels is not long term solution. They need help with drug rehab.
