Very proud to be a part of this 🌟 Finding all sorts of game builds and many other things from the entire internet (I mean entire-entire) over the past five years has been a very long and interesting story, but it was definitely worth it. Glad you could make a two-hour video on the material I provided! (Funny thing, but the video was originally scheduled to be released on May 18, 2022 (a decade since the start of the public alpha), then was postponed to April 23, 2023 (a decade since the game's release), and has only come out now)
  • It’s wild that Klei failed their one task successfully and now we have this dope game to play

I feel a weird sense of pride knowing that my suggestion, that Wilson's beard provide warmth in the winter, was taken and added. It's such a small thing compared to everyone else's suggestions but I literally just threw it out there because its cute, and just... made respect to Klei you know? They didn't have to do that, no one would have cared. It's insane being such an old player and seeing what the game has become. I used to be able to survive like 300 days, now I'm lucky if I survive 20. Wild.

There's something poetic about the very last DLC for Don't Starve ending up being a proper realization of what the game initially started as. It's like the game has come full circle as it finally passes on the torch to its multiplayer counterpart.

I Remember playing this game all the way back in 2013 on the day it was officially released, and its really cool to see how much it has changed and improved over the last decade or so :)

I played don't stave since the grass was simple, seen this video felt like going back and enjoying what made the game good! Amazing Video OrangE! love the Documentary funny vids you make! And the Mokey mod mention got me by surprise ahahahahha
  • I actually like the story behind the idea of these major bosses being added into multiplayer with the intention of being fought with multiple people but because of pure human injenuity and creativity (or just cheesing the fuck out of everything) we were essentially able to bypass whatever conditions they made over and over, it just comes to show how adaptable humans really are

As someone who has never played Don't Starve, I can now learn about the history of that game.
  • @kabagal
I can already say that this video is an instant classic.

You forgot to mention that with the “get one copy give one copy” advertising, instead of a player giving their copy to a friend, they would actually give it to their favorite streamer, DRAMATICALLY increasing sales

I think this game is a case of creativty naturally taking over what was originally just another job. Props to Jamie Cheng too, for letting his team deviate from his original goal into something greater.

I love how you were able so sum up the entire human experience of abating hunger over all time in 2 hours and fifteen minutes. Thank u orange man!

To me it seems like the people who hated Krampus DID experience it, it's just that they felt like their ethics were being judged by the phrasing of "naughty/nice" and being punished for doing "unethical" things in-game via Krampus.

I am totally in love with these new documentary style videos. I bet they take an absurd amount of time and effort to make, but I love every single thing about them. It's absolutely worth it.
  • I remember how challenging the game was when I first started to play it back in the All's Well That Maxwell update. I remember one of my favorite mods was a Hatsune Miku one where she was given a gun with craftable ammo as well as some kind of slowing ammo, but the slowing ammo would crash the game all the time when you tried to use it. She also spawned in with a glowing green leek which dealt very little damage but gave you a small ring of infinite light like Willow's lighter. The gun ammo was actually pretty expensive to craft and dealt the same damage as a blow dart so all in all it was a fairly balanced recipe since you needed rotten eggs to make gunpowder and the rotten eggs were always a pain for me to get. I either had to wait for pengull's to spawn in winter and then let them despawn naturally to leave their eggs behind, or sacrifice a bunch of good meat to a bird to get eggs and then let them rot over time. I actually probably had a harder time playing the modded character than anything by default since, while the light and the gun was great, her stats were basic at best and had no other upside. I think she also dealt less damage like Wendy but I can't really remember that much. All I do remember is that it was my go-to character for the majority of my singleplayer life until I got wind of DST and started to watch content related to it. I actually only ever managed to get it after the end of the first Forge event which I just barely missed by like a week. After that I played the game off and on again from then until now where I'm currently in a "I don't feel like doing anything" sort of mood. I also like how they tried to nerf Willow to make her seem less like a default griefer character but it did literally nothing to change the stigma attached to her by that point. As a matter of fact, even though most people I see run public servers with 6 player slots, they still automatically kick anyone they don't know immediately. So fast to the point where I log in and wait for the loading screen, and then once I spend 5 minutes waiting for the screen to go away I get the 'You have been disconnected' or 'You have been banned' message. I love how people make public servers just to deny anyone from getting in like....just make a password you troglodyte. Stop being an asshole and insta-banning anyone and everyone who you don't want to play with and just password protect your world, it's literally as simple as just typing a single character into the field. The chances of someone brute forcing the password which can be a random number of characters and any random combination of them is slim to none and would be almost impossible. Aside from that, the game is a blast to play with friends and good people. I joined a server in the recent months and ended up playing with a group, regularly, with some fun mods, for over 3000 days before the server got refreshed for the update and some mod fixes (since it was common for mod incompatibility messages to appear even though everything was up to date between players and server.) Aside from that it was a really good time and we had a lot of fun. Also, unpopular opinion, but I think that the Palmcone trees are better than the lunar trees. They're easier to plant and take care of, provide the same if not more logs when you dig up their stumps and stuff, and any unused palmcone scales can act as a single log for fuel on the fire, meaning you can turn all your other logs into armor or planks and use the cone scales exclusively for fuel. Their only downside is they don't duplicate themselves with multiple saplings and only drop one to renew the cycle, meaning you have a definitive amount unless you camp the unnatural portal for a few days to get more sprouts. Aside from that I think they're far superior. They also don't spawn treeguards much like the lunar trees because there's no treeguard variant for them....yet.

OH man the nostalgia ... I feel so fortunate for having discovered the game fairly early and seeing it evolve over the years.
  • @weebshiz
Mans really made a 2 hour documentary about maxwell gaming lore.
