I met Jack at a golf course in Pittsburg Ca. in the late 90’s. We found out he was playing a round of golf there and we hightailed it there to meet the Assassin!! He was so cool, we went in the clubhouse and had a couple drinks and Jack entrained our questions, took pictures and autographed items for us. It’s something I will never forget! Rest in peace Mr. Tatum...

Man, if Jack was playing in today's NFL he would've got banned for life. Rest Easy!🙏🕊
  • In today's NFL he'd get 99 to life...receivers have little to no fear going over the middle nowadays.

Jack was a name for tough men. Tatum and Lambert were my dad's two favorites... He liked the Steelers, I liked the Raiders ❤
  • @Hettepop
Jack went to my HS in NJ (Passaic ) and was 2 years ahead of me; he and Franco Harris already were NJ All Metro so being rivals in the pros was nothing new!
  • Jack Tatum was a HOF talent. He's kept out because of the Stingley incident. Jack Tatum is the standard barrier for hard hitting safeties in the NFL, like Steph Curry is to 3pt. shooting in the NBA

We used to read his autobiography"They call me assassin" to get us pumped up for the upcoming highshcool football season...man,did it work!

Damn Campbell got his head taken off and still scored 😳 dude was a beast !
  • @r.mcdonnell8614
I also have seen some videos of him back in college at Ohio State...he was a beast back there too. A few times in the 68 championship (69 Rose Bowl) he absolutely stunned the commentators a few times, they had never seen anyone who could hit like that in college football

This is why I chose to play defense for all my years competing. I am not gonna be vulnerable going for the ball and get assassinated. I’ll do the hitting instead.

Jack Tatum is the reason we have some of the rules in today’s game.
  • Bone crunching hits, interceptions (37) and all around great defensive play aside, Jack Tatum should be in The Hall of Fame for the same reason Cliff Harris and Ronnie Lott are in there. He might be the best player ever at timing his hit right when the ball got there. That's almost impossible to do and he might be the best to EVER do it.
  • Viking teammates congratulating a toasted - dazed Sammy for holding onto the football after being massively jolted by the Assassin, "Great job, holding onto the ball, Sammy!" Sammy replies, " Huh, what ball? Did we win the World Series yet? "
  • @yourlastfoe
Literally every play in this video would be a penalty today. God I miss REAL football.
  • @pijim96
That's the football that I grew up to know and play and love.

There is a difference between hitting hard and being dirty Sean Taylor was a hard hitter but he wasnt dirty while Jack Tatum was simply dirty he was talented asf but cmon now those late hits and the face mask shit he did where clearly dirty plays even by the standards back in the day

I saw a glimpse of Willie Brown. I was fortunate to know Willie for about 10 years. He would come to our weekly Hot Rod get together. Willie was the kind of guy you felt like you knew your whole life. I sure miss him.
