RIP Joe Bonsall (age 76). He passed today (July 9th, 2024) of complications of ALS. What a great leader for the Oaks and Country Music in general. Take care all.

I am so happy that Home Free was able to sing with & make this video with ALL of The Oak Ridge Boys before we lost any of them. Joe you were always my favorite, not only because I have an old boyfriend that looks like you, but also because you always seemed to keep the party jumping on stage. May you now live in His warmth & light.

Hated hearing of Joe's passing. Several years back my then 4 year old loved this song and I sent the Oakridge Boys a video of him singing Elvira and didn't think anything would come off it but they sent him the sweetest letter.

FROM THE TIME "HOME FREE" WALKED INTO THE STUDIO TO RECORD "ELVIRA" THE ENERGY LEVEL BETWEEN GROUPS WAS "OUT THE TOP OF THE ROOF". A GREAT NEW GROUP WITH AN UNLIMITED CAREER AHEAD FOR THEM. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN TO DO THE VIDEO. NOW, LET'S DO A BIG OLD WORLD TOUR TOGETHER!!!!!!

Everybody knows just how good Home Free is, one of the best acapella groups EVER! But when this recording was made, do you realize that Joe Bonsall (tenor) was 67 years old...that Duane Allen (lead) was 72...William Golden (baritone Santa Claus) was 76...and Richard Sterban (bass) was 72? After all these years, the "Boys" have still got it and don't take a back seat to ANYONE!

This is what happens when you get a bunch of talented performers together. The first thing they do is have fun. If you don't believe it just look at the smiles on their faces and it comes through in their voices. They are having way too much fun. It's like when everything just clicks - you know its right and everyone feels it. This is what makes good singers great singers. They make their voices smile. Love this group.
