Many people have asked us why their dog's coat is tangled or matted when they do brush them regularly. Therefore, we've decided to make a video demonstrating how to safely work out the tangles and matted hair in the coat. Special thanks to Lucy and Linus' mommy for giving us permission to use Lucy for this video (Linus is the one in the background making all the extra noise.)

Thank you for watching and the encouraging comment, John! Good luck with the brushing, and remember that it's not about how fast you can do it so just take your time, enjoy yourself, and remain in the moment. I like to focus on my breathing, making sure it is slow and deep and that I am breathing through my belly rather than my chest. The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed your dog will be.
  • Thank you Jun, for the advice on working out mats. I love your temperament, voice, and obvious love for the dog. She was a good dog, but your handling contributes to that.
  • I'm a groomer having my grooming parlour at Indore in India ,we also focus on dematting for a clear and clean skin because we know that only clear coat can gives a healthy lifestyle to our pets.

I've been looking for the PROPER way to use a dematting rake.. and you are the FIRST to show the right way! Thank you!

Just rescued a Poodle family a couple months ago (mom, dad & 3 little 3 wk. old puppy boys- mill dogs, deceased owner) & have never dealt with this breed before. Parents were filthy & matted beyond belief, so I took them to a prof groomer. They came back bleeding cuts shaved into faces & ears! Not doing that again & I love their sweet people-oriented personalities, so I thank you for this video & your obvious love & concern for the dog's comfort & emotional state. I want to learn to groom them myself & this was very encouraging. The others I've watched on toob treated the dogs like stuffed animals. :(

Brilliant description of the way to keep a cockapoo relatively matt free. I have just rehomed one and needed to know which was the product I needed for his coat, so thank you so much. I shall now get the right products to keep him happy between a grooming visit.
  • @EntreDeuxChairs
Glad you are still around! I had to have a groomer do the clip job as my doggie had too many tangles....but now I know the importance of brushing regularly. Thanks again!
  • @Jmarkusic
You are very gentle with the dog. That's good to see. Your voice is also calm which I'm sure helps keep the dog calm. Thank you for posting. I have a large dog that I have to brush out and he has a lot of tangles. Now I know how to do it without cutting them out.
