This was literally the best story-telling of this case that I’ve ever heard. The sheer amount of detail and plot twists blew my mind. Literally when I thought the story was over, and you said “But, this was not the end of the story for flight 401” and the moments I’ve heard after that sent chills down my spine. Bravo MrBallen, bravo!

My husband worked for Eastern Airlines when this occurred. Having witnessed the firings and harassment of those employees that reported anything, most of the Eastern employees learned very quickly to NOT speak about the incidents. Thank you Mr. Ballen for another great story. I hope you and your family are settling into your new home.

Can we just stop and appreciate the fact that Mr Ballen rented out an entire plane to tell this story in?
  • @----Moon----
Interesting part of the story is that Don and Bob never really seem malicious, even when they're not actively helping. They're either just sitting there or wandering around, they seem pretty chill
  • This is actually a really sweet haunting story. It sounds like the captains were making sure the flights using the parts from the downed plane stayed safe.

I am a retired airline pilot and we studied this accident at length. It resulted in training changes that ensured whenever there was a mechanical problem on board that the flying pilot would stay focused on only flying the aircraft and not get involved in troubleshooting the problem. You told this very well and got it exactly right.

Imagine how frustrated Bob was at the irony of being asked if he was deadheading. No wonder he didn't say anything.

I lived about 5 miles from the crash site. I was young and will never forget how our house shook and the windows rattled! My neighbors owned airboats and were on their way to help.

My Dad was an aerospace engineer and his best friend at Lockheed was one of the engineers that worked on that planes design. Our family's were in New York and getting ready to go to Miami Florida. We were supposed to be on that flight. Earlier that day my brother was in a car accident and we had to change our plans. As kids we were very unhappy about missing the vacation. When we heard the news we were stunned to say the least and afraid to fly. I was only 9. The thought that I could have died haunted me all my life. Since then I have had 4 additional last minute changes that "saved/spared" my life. I'm so grateful for life's pivots that have spared my life.

Imagine having this guy as a grandpa, bro he'd tell the best stories I could sit and listen for hours.
  • @ticrific
I actually find it really cool that the ghost of the engineer warned the pilot of malfunctions which ended up being real. He wanted to help and potentially saved lives by doing that
  • The dead spirit of captian and airline engineer had latched onto the parts that were used on new planes. The fact that the captian appeared and then vanished in thin air infront of passengers is terrifying to hear and I can only imagine how shocked and scared the experience would have been for people who witnessed it. This is Mr Ballen most wildest and craziest paranormal story ever.
  • I am a flight attendant. I was hired in 1999. I had training on the L1011 but once I graduated the L1011’s were being phased out. During training I had to go down the elevator but I was lucky enough never to have to work it. The flight attendants told me about the ghost faces down there. I was so glad I never had to. Great storytelling. They must’ve missed some parts. 👀👀👀👀👀

The "OH MY GOD, THATS BOB LOFT!!" gave me chills
  • A very close friend of mine died in the crash of 401. She was my babysitter whom I adored as I was a child. Her luggage was retrieved and sent to her family, but her body was never found. When I would visit her aunt, who actually raised her, we would talk about her and about what a loving person she was. Those talks have helped to keep her alive in my heart, which is a great comfort for me, even after all these years. ♥️. Thanks, Mr. Ballen, for posting this story.

34:56 it went from creepy to sad real quick. Their deaths were so sudden that they actually reenacted their usual routines when they were still alive. đź’”

I cant believe you told this story. My father did PR for Eastern and told this story often. Mostly when anyone would get on him about not wearing a seatbelt. He went down to Miami to see the wreckage and there was still a burnt corps he said was stuck in the seat with his hands on the belt. My father was told that many of the seatbelts jammed locking the passengers in and trapping them to burn to death. The rest of his life he wouldn’t put one on b/c of the trauma of that image. He would always get choked up talking about it. Crazy to hear you speak of this! I have chills.

People don't realize how few good storytellers we encounter in a lifetime.
  • @kd8663
A senior engineer haunting the crew to look over their shoulders and see that they aren’t making mistakes is very on brand.
  • @belencantu7200
Dude!! I got chills all over when you said “OMG IT’S BOB LOFT!” Total freak out! Imagine being a passenger trapped with ghosts! Awesome story!
