Nobody these days goes through the artistry of constructing a purple ape that sings Daisy in order to backdoor your computer. A crying shame.

It’s sad even malware has gotten corporatized and boring
  • @Firevine
Malware used to be interesting - Now it's just your operating system.

I’ve always wanted to make a worm that is literally a worm, and I want to name it Wormagotchi. It would just place an executable file on your desktop that would be a tamagotchi but a worm. And have a button with on it that uninstalls the worm, places the Wormagotchi data in a zip in an app data file, then leaves a folder on the desktop with a .txt with the worm saying goodbye to the user in it, and a .png that’s a screenshot of your desktop but with the worm sleeping in the foreground. If you got reinfected, the data would be retrieved, and a pop up saying something along the lines of “worm has returned from its trip!” would appear when launching the file explorer.

I remember a friend of mine got a pretty shitty virus back in the day. As far as I know, it didn't do anything really malicious besides being annoying. But basically every 30 minutes or so, a picture of a pig would show up on screen along with really loud pig noises.

I've had a rat once (Remote Access Trojan) one day I came back to my computer to see my cursor moving towards my steam wallet, I moved my mouse and that probably scared them because they stopped. needless to say I had to deep clean my pc. one of the scariest moments I've ever experienced though.

I feel like malware isn't even really a thing anymore for the most part. Usually it's just ads that lead someone into a scam or some other social engineering thing to get credentials.
  • @yoonglie
malware is one of my biggest fears, and i’ve had a few nightmares where it happens to me and yet i still watch these kinds of videos
  • @CheddarVG
Honestly classic malware that screws with your computer, and doesn't destroy anything is a long lost art. People have made really cool stuff in DOS.
  • @WhisPro
"The file can't be removed because the file has malware." You had one job. (yes this is a real thing, the error code is 0x800700e1)
  • @HitPointPersonal
I want someone to make a worm that just pops up with an informative text document or video of why clicking on sketchy links or visiting sketchy websites bad and explaining how they got the worm on their system
  • @stilllogan
Carrying on the windows destruction legacy… vsauce Joey would be proud
  • @Monsuco
The good thing is there's less malware targeting end users these days. Hackers have figured out there's no real money to be made in trying to ransomware Grandma's computer & demanding Bitcoin. Instead, they mostly go after bigger fish, trying to ransomware companies and other large entities.

what i love about rensenware is that the creator accidentally infected himself and couldnt reach the score requirement. thats what we gamers call a skill issue
  • @gooeyPhantasm
nice video! glad to see Rensenware mentioned, i would love to see the US government call up the best Touhou players to decrypt the Pentagon.
  • @Spencer-wc6ew
Back when malware writers were less malicious than youtube "prank" channels.
  • ngl, the less malicious ones could be really fun ways to fuck around before a system reset if you're already planning on that
  • @oliwierw3460
my friend once made a virus that sent the remote Control key to his email and he turned off the whole school computer lab every 5 minutes my teacher just laughed it off
  • @a_tet
"You've been infected with the fat ransomeware. To decrypt your files you must reach level 600 in League of Legends"
  • @stariverse5916
makes me sad that malware turned into lazy scams nowadays. im deathly afraid of malware, but i always found their intricate and cool ways of well, destroying your computer, to be cool. my dad owns a computer shop and i always ask him if he has any stories about viruses, but now its just stupid scams. :(
