Job loss, unemployment, downsizing to a new apartment to prepare for a new job. It was too much.

I think I imploded just a tidbit..
I knew this might be a difficult transition for the three of us. But I didn't think it would be quite this rough. Facing a job loss wasn't fun. Navigating the unemployment system was stressful. Dealing with the current job market has been a nightmare. But I was ready for a change. I was feeling stale in my old apartment and was hopeful about moving to a new spot. But the apartment is WAY smaller than I was expecting. And WAY louder. I hear music constantly and I don't ever feel like I can rest in my own home.😳😞

Debt paid off to date: $143,849.31 ($99,978.42 in principal, the rest in interest) 😮‍💨

  • Please remember that you did not do anything wrong. You were a part of a mass layoff. You are not a failure.

Hey lady! I’m a 63 yr woman and my younger yrs as a divorced mom with 2 kids to raise alone, being laid off 4 times, times were worse back then, believe it or not, I survived with strength and knowledge from God. I’m not religious, but did serious growing and made it to now. So I’m trying to hang on 6 more years to experience what retirement is. I’m still alone with a house full of rescues. Kids are grown and out, amazingly still at the same company at 19 years. I’m struggling with this though. Needing to hang on longer. Things will calm down for you. Keep working hard at everything and it all will fall into place. I subbed to you as I am highly sensitive empath and understand where your at. Good times are coming ♥️Much love to you ♥️♥️
  • You will get through it. I moved to a new state and didn't have a job. I left everything behind and now got a new remote job and a place to live. Im having a glass of wine and loving my peace.
  • Morning Rachel, I'm 50 and just moved. I just fixed coffee in my new place and sat down to watch YouTube. Saw your thumbnail and decided to watch. I am happy you pushed through. I'm in the unpacking process as well. Doing it alone and it's hard but I am doing a little at a time to not get overwhelmed. Everything you described I was feeling. Just know a lot of us women are really carrying heavy loads and it gets stressful but we always count our blessings and are grateful. It's admirable to show the process and be calm. Just know many women in thread understand and are here to let you know to hang in there. It's ok. The kitty's will adjust. Just try and relax and don't absorb what you're seeing around you. Just do one thing at a time as you have the energy. That's what I'm doing. It's good to vent. Stop blaming yourself. Life shifts. Don't blame yourself for something you couldn't control. Big hug. You haven't failed, you're adjusting to change 😊

You already got a new apartment and a new job so all you can do is move forward. Reach out to your loved ones and accept help. You can always get a different job and/or a new apartment. You can always change your circumstances. Cats are resilient. Don't worry. They always adjust.

Rachel, everything will work out....trust the process. Peace, Love, and Light 🌷🌺
  • I missed you on here and I suspected you were having a tough time. I’m glad to see you back and hear about how you’ve been doing. There is no shame in feeling down right now. Your whole life was upended and you put it all back together by your damn self! This tells me you are an incredibly strong bad-ass woman! You’ve got this Rachel!
  • Rachel I hope you can get some good night's sleep soon! All those compounding factors sound so stressful and exhausting - the move and unpacking (moves are one of the most stressful life events, ever!), seasonal depression, job loss & anxiety, lack of privacy/having to share space at the hotel, music blaring and other sounds and inconsideration from the food shop, and the cats waking you up all night. Anyone would be at their wits' end. Wish I could bring you a warm cup of sleepytime tea. For the sleep issues (I know this won't entirely cover the noise, but it might help), I would recommend a fan and a white noise machine, as well as ear plugs. Ear plugs and a mini USB fan are a must when I travel. The fan and white noise especially help our dogs sleep (in our bed). When in a new place, our smallest dog likes to wake up every few hours at night and run around - hemp treats have helped with this; I think they have some for cats too. Maybe the cats will settle down after a week? I hope you are able to move somewhere quieter/peaceful when your lease is up. Neighbors like that can make your life hell. Just remember the sense of being overwhelmed is temporary due to the move, new job, all the boxes packed in (and the frustration of having to Tetris it all), etc. Give it a month a hopefully things will have improved. I am the same way with regard to not asking for help! I don't want to bother anyone, but then I get super stressed out and overwhelmed. I feel really down when I haven't had my coffee either. I have felt similar to you in situations when moving, experiencing job loss, etc. Thank you for posting this video, it was very real. The entire time watching it, I just wanted to give you a hug through the screen. I hope and pray things get better for you soon, with a full night's sleep and some hot coffee in the morning :)

I usually don’t comment on yt but I just want to say hang in there Rachel. Things will get better and you are doing the best you can. Take it easy and might these rough days lead to the best phase of your life ❤
  • You feel bad as a pet parent because you are a good person who cares, please don’t beat yourself up too much 😢 Moving is extremely stressful, even in the most perfect situations. You are doing a great job (hugs) :-)
  • Moving is so stressful period! Give yourself grace! It’s a temporary stress to settle in!
  • @ajaratuegbo8534
We missed you. Thank you for sharing the ups and downs of your new normal. I am struggling with my new normal too. You are fortunate to have a supportive family. I hope you make it home next year.
  • @lofi-gurl
Oh no I’m so sorry to hear about your living situation! I went through something very similar last year where I moved to a slightly cheaper but vastly smaller place and I also have two cats. I had downstairs neighbors that had very loud and violent marital arguments all night almost every night. The noise and space made me feel horrible for my cats and I ended up breaking my lease early and finding a new place that luckily worked out and is a huge space that’s even cheaper than the last place! I really hope things work out with your living situation I know how tough it can be and I really feel for you!
  • You did the right thing. Getting a job early is good. You will put your stamp on the place. And your are a GREAT fur mommy. They feel our pain. Just love on them and they will make you feel better too.
  • @jaelasam
I'm so sorry to hear you've been struggling but give yourself grace. Change is never easy and life can feel overwhelming sometimes. I fully endorse a good cry and then you step out like the queen you are and keep working at your goals. Hope things settle out soon for you 💞

A sound machine might help. Especially, when you need to sleep.
  • @deborahroot4912
Just found your channel, I really like how authentic you are. I know this will get better and your kitties have you so they will be fine too!
