The delay every year for the newest Pokémon games to be compatible with Home is disgraceful. When will Scarlet & Violet be updated to work with the service? Let's discuss it.

Hey all, want to mention that I’m aware Ilca played a part in developing Home. I use GF + TPC interchangeably in this video, but do know that it’s TPC overseeing Ilca in keeping the service running.
  • This whole video is an underrated point. There's no reason it shouldn't have been done by launch date. Just like you said, just code it to unlocking Home support for after beating the Champion. It's not that hard.
  • I'm in agreement with you. I'm tired of waiting on Pokemon Home. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come out until the dlc releases.
  • You hit the nail on the head. It’s a relief knowing I’m not the only one feeling this way. We pay for years for a service that should be available quicker. We will reach 6 months of waiting soon. Pokemon has treated legacy fans with so much disrespect over the years I feel. We don’t even have a release date for home. Just some arbitrary vague window. This just sucks waking up every day hoping for news just to be met with nothing.
  • I remember the Pokepark with Diamond and Pearl. That was my first experience with a transfer system. The software was basically built into the system and software. No need to purchase a subscription software and Nintendo wifi. And since we’re paying for this, and not every game has all Pokemon compatible, you’re stuck waiting an unknown period of time for a game to come out that you can move your mons to. And if a game doesn’t come out (or if Home isn’t made compatible with the game), you have to keep paying until you can finally move them to a game, lest you stop paying for the service and risk your mons being deleted from existence. Also, wasn’t Home developed by ILCA? They should’ve had it ready for BDSP from day one. No excuses. Anyone trying to give them a pass on this need to reevaluate their self respect. Stop defending a company that has been essentially inflating the price of the gaming experience.
  • For me this feels even worse than the wait for BDSP and PLA. Don't get me wrong, that was still annoying and ridiculous, but like, SV has transfer-only pokemon coded into the game that are just...impossible to legitimately have right now. Plus, I know it was extremely rare but the whole data-deleting bug chaos could have been made less of a worry for a lot of people if you could just...transfer your extremely important guys to Home until it was fixed. I dunno...in any case, fingers crossed for May. 😬
  • I probably am going to rant even more about this, but to make a big point: We also know that whatever they are doing with storing pokemon is something they can do for FREE or relatively for free because they just made Pokemon Bank Free! But seriously, people are like it cost only $16-36 a year (depending on the plan). Yeah, we are spending that much for like 1-2GBs worth of online storage! I hope everyone realizes that... I mean, you get that much for free from many other cloud storage places! If they aren't already making bank from Pokemon Home, then the app is underwhelming and useless to the point that no one is really using it! Pokemon Home needs an overhaul!
  • I think the issue isn’t whether or not they can integrate HOME, they don’t want it right now bcos that ability to transfer old Pokémon into Scarlet/Violet would undermine this monthly raid scheme they have going on.
  • Knowing that Scarlet and Violet are held up together by duct tape and a lot of hope, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes even after the DLC until we get Home compatibility
  • What's most infuriating about it is having the knowledge that, as soon as the update drops, most people - even if they agree now - are gonna forget how pissed off they were, and get back on the "GAMEFREAK IS LOVE, POKEMON IS LIFE" crap, and the same behavior will just be repeated next gen.

This video is just as ranty as it seems, yes.
  • I do understand that they want you to play with the new pokemon and experience the game in the way they intended. I get waiting a few months because while the games gome out November, a lot of kids get it for Christmas. That said MAY or later is UNACCEPTABLE. February would be acceptable to me but anything after is just ridiculous. I've already beaten the game in both versions and now want to play a game with my Hisuian pokemon but I can't so I haven't touched the games in months
  • This is kind of ridiculous how long we've been waiting. I've coded games myself and I understand there can be bugs and issues with different things sometime, but if you have fans that have been waiting for like six months now expecting your game, dlc, update or whatever, it's best to let everyone know what the hold up is and the progress of fixing said issue instead of leaving everyone in the dark.
  • I am someone that loves shiny hunting. In Scarlet and Violet I have caught over 180 shinies, and I would love to be able to keep track of my dex with my other 700 shinies I’ve gotten up to this point. Additionally, I haven’t done any egg hunting yet because I A. Don’t have box space for it, and B. Would rather not release Pokémon 1 at a time, and C. Don’t want to be scared of having the risk of losing my shinies because of the bug that people like Austin John talked about a month or so ago (however I believe that bug has been fixed, but because of how buggy SV is, it still makes me worried)
  • When a company says ‘early 20xx’ I’d expect April at the latest. We’re now in May and still no home sv functionality. I also think nso subscribers should get at least a ‘basic’ subscription (it would add more value to nso) but that’s probably just me.
  • Pokemon Home is a prison for Pokemon not to mention instead of holding your Pokemon Hostage for Money the service should be free to begin with. I hated Pokemon Home ever since it was announced because it scams you.
  • I paid for Pokémon home for the first time with sword & shield. I wanted to be able to transfer my Go mons into my games, and with SV coming out, I really wanted to transfer my team from sword. Still nothing. I had breeding projects I wanted to bring over, competitive Pokémon I worked hard to get & make, and I still don’t have access. It’s really frustrating that I’m paying a fee and still nothing.
  • @PomLamb
I had this feeling since the time Pokemon Shining pearl Brilliant diamond and legends Arceus took so long to become compatible. What gets me is that they never communicate what's going on. They say it will release early spring. If the leaks were correct that sounds more like mid to late spring. I assume something caused a hold up and if so I feel like they should have mentioned that. In any case I know how you feel on this and I would like to thank you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it. Pom~ 💛❤🐑
  • Great video! I feel all these things. I believe Home is outsourced to ILCA—so I’d be very curious to know if ILCA is having issues (classic ILCA) or if TPC just isn’t pushing them to make deadlines hard enough? Either way, it’s on TPC. It is ridiculous that we pay for this service and wait half a year from a game’s release to see Home comparability. I do remember last year there were issues on ILCA’s part because BDSP’s engine wasn’t compatible with Home. But either way, it’s embarrassing that a company made a game that they didn’t even check to see if it could work with their server that THEY made. And I love that you bring up GTS being locked to Home too. It is a really sad thing to see. Especially when you factor in that many young kids play Pokemon, and may not have smartphones to utilize the GTS—a feature that’s been a staple since Gen 4 :(
  • I feel constantly gaslit by the community and TPC for just wanting to enjoy pokemon the way we saw it going growing up. I don't care about battling online i just want to play the complete game at release and move on with my life after I'm done.
