We moved because of increased crime, young family members threatened and frequent gunfire at night. I guess that makes me a racist.

When blacks start moving in to a nice neighborhood the black people who are already there are the first to move out.

The black lady acknowledged that when she moved into the neighborhood she thought it would remain mostly white, as if she were hoping it would remain that way. But within two years it had changed to mostly black, and this seemed to bother her. What struck me is that this documentary made no other comment on why a black woman might be disappointed to see her new neighborhood change into what essentially resembled her old neighborhood. (Didn't Jesse Jackson say that white crowds didn't bother him but he'd cross the street to avoid a group of black people?)

This video is based upon unsubstantiated antidotes so let me add mine. In 1969, 2 years following the riots in Detroit I owned a home on 7 mile between Livernois and Woodward. A very nice neighborhood. At the time people were beginning to sell and move I was offered a below market price for my home. I said, no, I'll stay. Within two years I was the victim of a garage fire, two home invasions, (one when my wife was home alone) and more taunts and name calling than I can recount. I decided for my wife's safety we had to move. I ended up getting 60% of the money I had been offered just two years earlier. So, yeah, I was one of the White Flight people. Moved so fucking far away that to this day my neighbors are 99% white. No apologies.

We lost our homes, our neighborhoods, have to drive 50 miles to work in order to live among ourselves because our freedom of association was taken a long time ago, yet blacks were adversely affected?????

Which also subsequently started another catchy trend;  Gated Communities.

Im from Malaysia. We had similar problem too. I live in apartment. 5 years ago, 90% are local but after many African and Middle East students move here now less than half locals. They treat local like foreigners, throw rubbish from window, didnt pay rent on time. One of my friend was robbed inside elevator. Im not surprised if white american dont want them as neighbours.

With blacks surrounding them, they had a choice. Leave with the cash, or leave in a body bag!

Free housing for black people and the results were catastrophic.

I saw it happen to the Northern California neighborhood I grew up in. Initially it was all middle class White, and Hispanic families with an Asian family or two. There was no crime and everyone was cool. My dad sold out after a few black families moved in. My brothers and I didn't want to move but dad said that in two years the place was going to be a shit hole. And when more blacks moved in the place did turn into a totally trashed crime ridden shit hole in two or three years.

I'm one of the few holdouts in my hometown. We've got almost nothing but Latinos in all the places that used to be safe and nice downtown and the surrounding area. We have drive-by's all the time. Had multiple bikes stolen, cars broken into, constant tagging on our garage, more and more crowds of people by the Union Gospel Mission, and the leading political candidates want are making sure people know we're welcoming to illegal immigrants here. Gotta get the hell to the west side.
  • I don't live in the USA but watch crime programs such as first 48 etc, I always joke just arrest the black guy you will be right 99% of the time.
  • @stevewarren4292
Did you hear the disappointment in that nice black ladies voice, "when we moved in here it was a nice neighborhood, and I thought it would stay that way, but with in two years it was all black."
