In 2006 Sky Announced SkyNet, a 3rd party "App Store" for interactive services developed by 3rd Parties, using the WTVML MicroBrowser we developed for the Sky STB. Web based services could then be delivered over the modem dial up connection, from the Internet, via the SkyNet Gateway.
Due to the large number of services being developed then, Service Owners could buy a SKyKey Licence, providing them a Memorable Numeric Short Cut they could use to advertise their service off and on Platform, for example in literature, adverts or TV channel overlays.
