  • The distinction for me has always been as simple as "Was it only obtainable via mystery gift in it's debut gen? If yes mythical, if no legendary."
  • @pjshurm
always thought of it like how a square is a technically a rectangle, they might not be "legendary" in name but they carry the same weight
  • @StarWyvernHPB
Id honestly think the mythicals would be a more solid group if phione, meltan, melmetal, zeraora and zarude weren't counted
  • @lasercraft32
The "oversaturation" problem effects Legendaries too... There are SO MANY legendaries now! Each generation adds progressively more (with Scarlet/Violet adding a whopping 12 if you count Pecharunt), and a lot of them don't even feel like they needed to be legendary... Like, you mean to tell me that Munkidori is considered a legendary??? You kidding??? And despite many legendaries groups like the "legendary birds" and the "legendary beasts" having less restrictions in the Battle Facilities, they still share the same title as the bigger stronger box legendaries like Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. The classifications of legendaries is ridiculous. Not to mention there's also all the Pokemon that aren't considered "legendary," but still have the stats akin to them, like the Ultra Beasts and the Paradox Pokemon. :/
  • I call Mythicals EELs. Event Exclusive Legendaries. Because they should be Legendaries but they aren't.
  • Myticals being only seperated since gen 5 is only half true. In Japan, they where always set apart from normal legendarys. It was more or less a translation error to group them togetger outside japan.
  • “All mythicals are legendaries, but not all legendaries are mythicals”
  • @EnbyFish
    Mythicals are just legendaries lol
  • @DmizzMOB
The time of secrets and myths is over the internet and social media doesn’t allow things to not be spoiled unless they start foreshadowing future Pokémon
  • @ShaulaXNinja
The distinction for me has to do with their availablity in VGC. Legendaries, even box art ones when a generation is nearing it's end, are able to be used in events like Worlds and regionals, where as Mythicals have all been banned in every event since.
  • I loved the mythical Pokemon distribution events as a kid, especially since they usually had little side quests, like the Darkrai one. I really wish they would at least go back to having in game events for them.
  • @inktendo
You are firing up content man! Keep it up! Amazing video as always
  • Meltan was a good mhytical it showed up and nobody knew what it was or where it was from
  • As someone who has been trying to make a “it’s all connected” theory for mythicals and legendaries Shaymin and Zarude feel less “legendary” and more “endangered species” because we see that they can be found in groups Zeraora doesn’t have that luxury because it has NOTHING to work with, it’s just “electric cat Lucario/Zoroark” (and honestly I thought it would have been a 1 gen only mythical like how Zoroark was event only in Black and White or how Lucario is technically gen 3 before it became available to own in gen 4)
  • @DeltaZinnia
To me Mythicals were always a sub-category of Legendary Pokemon. Being Mythical doesnt mean the Mon cant be Legendary at the same time
  • @anibalm93
I once heard and strongly agree with "Every Mythical is a Legendary but not every Legendary is a Mythical."
  • @StarWyvernHPB
I like that alot of mythicals have stories or reasons why they're rare such as arcues being god, celebi being a time travelling protector of the forest, mew being a very limited number as the majority have spread out and devrloped into other species. I personally like the idea that manaphy are extremely rare because of their circumstances, manaphy eggs only being able to be formed in a specific environment, and hatched through a connect to a person, (like the ancient undersea people who are long gone from the movie), so manaphy eggs are super rare, and eggs formed outside the specific area arent quite right and become phione
