How much money do you need to be rich? For these 1970s schoolchildren, to be rich can mean having £14 or £1,000,000,000. What would they do if they were rich? What would they buy? Is being rich a good thing? Can you be rich AND English?

As luck would have it, one of the children interviewed in this report for Junior That's Life has first hand experience of being rich - she has "ten million dollars hundred" in her piggy bank - so she is able to describe in great detail what daily life is like for the spectacularly wealthy. Eye-opening stuff.

This clip is from Junior That's Life, originally broadcast 1 September, 1979.

Wish they would track down these kids today. It would make a wonderful segment to hear them reflect on their younger selves 🙏🏻
  • The little guy, who said that he would give a 100 pounds back. I would love to know who he became. He looks no more than 9 -10 there, so he must to be around 50 now. He struck me so much, he seems like quite mature for his age.
  • Hahah I love the boy next to her smiling and his facial expressions . Never says a word but his face shows how he knows she’s spinning a yarn 😂😂😂😂❤️

I just love that everyone laughs at the kid who wants to put a symbol of his wealth on display, even though that's precisely what adults do every day....

The kid who said that he would return the money must have achieved something great in his life...all the kids were very charming and innocent..

The little girl who has a castle and an aeroplane is just brilliant.
  • That boy : more money , more servents, people will become lazy.such an wonderful education.God bless him.♥️
  • The silent kid in purple said huge amount by the expression on their face. As for that last little girl, her stories are far more believable than those said in Parliament.

"You can't be rich and English." She was absolutely right, given the fact that the inflation is skyrocketing.

Just came across this little gem of a video. Actually made my eyes water, the innocence of these kids.
  • The boy next to her ☺️☺️☺️ He didn't say a word but with his expression 😂😂

Would love to know what the children think of themselves now they are adults. That little boy at the end was so expressive while the little girl next to him was describing everything lol
  • "Im English...so I cant be rich and English..thats silly!!" 😂🤣 so very true...
  • I was born in '71 so I would have been around the same age as these kids, I have no idea what nonsense I would have come up with 😂😂🤔
