Disclaimer: yes yes I’m using an induction wok. It’s not ideal but it’s good enough 😘.

Alright gangstas lets cut the shit and end this egg fried rice shaming. There are so many different ways you can do fried rice, many different cuisines behind it too.
BUT when it comes down to just pure flavour and complexity, this for me is top tier. Sweet, salty, smokey and spicy with a hint of funkiness/msg from our sambal.

This is MY take on the nasi goreng.

There's no chilli jam, but there is sambal.
No MSG, but there is sambal (which has MSG in it from the chicken powder)
No peas and carrots, but there is sambal.
No Uncle Roger, but there is sambal.

Look, whichever way you look at it. This IS the best fried rice, it's got way more flavour and so much more fun to eat.
Don't agree with me? Then go and make yourself a bowl of it and thank me later.

When your roomates are sneezing when you cook sambal or nasi goreng, that's when you know the food's gonna be delicious 🤣

Dude i love how much your personality comes out on this channel. I feel like you were super reserved and humble on Masterchef, but you’re hilaious and entertaining as fuck hahahahha

Im from Singapore and been to shanghai, malaysia, indonesia, thailand. And all i can say is Indonesia nasi goreng is the best because of its simplicity and flavour.
  • @purabird
As a Malaysian, who studied in Bandung for 6 years, I can confirm, Indonesian Nasi Goreng is the best nasi goreng.

Hi Reynold. I've watched you since Master Chef and I really want to be just like you. I love food but I'm not that good in cooking and you just inspired me to learn and do my best. Continue to inspire people with your great cooking. God bless you. Love lots from the Philippines ❤️

As an Australian living in Indo, I really like seeing an Indonesian go mainstream in Australia. I can only hope it encourages other Australians to broaden their horizons beyond Bali (when borders open again) and get curious about the incredible archipelago on our doorstep!
  • I showed this to my 9 year old son who loves nasi goreng And telor ceplok. Living in Melbourne and haven’t been able to visit Jakarta for 2 years isn’t easy for him as he misses the local food. Your video inspires him a lot and just like you he is super proud of his Indonesian heritage.

I like how one of arguably the best patissiers in the world, a chef known for intrisicality and careful proceduring, always manages to cause one accident in every video. I love this man.

Malaysian here, ive once went to Indonesia for a week and in every store i went, i ordered nasi goreng. Even at the hotel breakfast, i would always wait in line for the nasi goreng. Eating Indonesian nasi goreng for week was one of the best thing i ever did.
