I’ve heard a lot about sweet gum but I’ve never split it. That seems like some tough wood! Great effort my friend! That seems like sycamore. I hit a piece of it over 60 times and it wouldn’t split haha.

Oh lord, fresh cut Sweetgum is a challenge for sure. It is some of the worst wood to split even with a log splitter. You sir have by far taken on the most difficult challenge to have seen yet. My hats off to you. ❤👍👍 It’s no small task even with a log splitter.
