Jelani Cobb, dean of the Columbia University School of Journalism joins Alex Wagner to discuss.

Freedom is in educating the people. Tyranny is in keeping them ignorant.

The republican party are pretty much cartoon villians at this point. America, do yourself a favor, vote blue.

Oh, the irony! Antisemitism is about protecting people from disparaging remarks or attacks based on the fact that they are Jewish. So-called "wokeism" is about protecting people from disparaging remarks or attacks based on the fact that they are part of another minority group. Being against antisemitism is literally part of the "woke" mindset. It's about respecting people and treating them with dignity. Being woke is about being against racism, religism, agism, or anything that falsely divides people.

Enjoy your religion. Leave everyone else alone about it! Separation of church and state!!!!!!
  • Why would the GOP want to actually solve any real issue when they can endlessly demagogue and grift off it.

Thank you GOP, you’re making it so much easier to vote blue.
  • It's been at least a decade since I've heard a Republican ask a question in good faith because they really want to learn the answer
  • When she can answer the question and the Republicans dont like the answer they cut her off. It also shows how little they know about the University administration, policy and ethics.

I hate these combative attacks on witnesses that stands-in for actual discussion. To me, it's just an excuse for attacking people the GOP doesn't like.

Being pro saving civilian lives and being anti war is not antisemitism.

Vote out the Taliban. “Woke” refers to people expecting equality under the law.
  • “Uhhhh….I dunno.” -Every conservative when asked to define woke.
  • Thank you Alex for always shining the spotlight on what is the greatest threat to America today: White Christian Nationalism

"Do you want Columbia University to be cursed by the god of the Bible?" Me: I worry about that as much as you worry about not entering Valhalla.
  • "can you name 10 Republicans in your faculty?" "Yeah i could, here's two that were part of the Trump administration...." "Okay let me ask another question." It was painful to watch that guy trtand fail so hard with a gotcha question and then just immediately give up on it to try to pivot to something else. The secondhand embarrassment i felt for the guy was strong.
