Ritchie Blackmore went from heavy metal to renaissance music. Always loved how versatile of a guitarist he was. This song is one of his best.

This feels like a dimly lit tavern full of old friends who have sang this song hundreds of times before and not a single one is sober. A genuine good time, and it's not ending til sunrise. Lots of nostalgia for something that has never happened to me.

This song has a lovely blend of Celtic and tavern style music. A faster/stronger beat than most Celtic, but more contemplative and ethereal than drinking songs. Plus the vocals give the whole thing a mystical, surreal quality. Like this town exists just beyond our perception . .

When I first heard this song on crappy speakers all I understood was the part about raising your glass, so I thought it was a drnking song. Now that I am actually hearing it properly, it is a drinking song!
