"Eclipse"
Rave held at 85th & Baldwin St. warehouse
2 stages; trance and house
Oakland, California, USA
Saturday, November 6, 1999

This party was on my birthday. I remember calling the voiceline and their message was something like "We've been to over 50 parties this year..." and they knew what worked and what didn't. They wanted to create the best experience possible for attendees. Eclipse had about 20 entrances so there wouldn't be long lines to get inside. It was at this huge warehouse (much more space than needed) so it wouldn't get too packed inside. They gave out free water. Very much appreciated as a participant, although I wonder if the promoters barely broke even on this event LOL.

At 01:21:54 is my favorite song (Liquid Child "Diving Faces") from this video. I think Kimball Collins was spinning during that moment.

To be completely honest with you, just seeing the title of this video made me instantly cry. I freaking loved parties SO much. I used to fly solo from Tracy to the event, I was out 3 nights a week dancing in the bay. Thank you so much for making this video. Words really cannot express my gratitude. You can take away the raves but you can't take the raver out out me, 4 life. I just keep looking to see if I see myself in the video. 😄

This event was thrown by g.o.a.Play Productions and to answer your question posed in the description, we most definitely did not break even on this event. Let's just say an entire documentary could be made from the stories of how all this happened and went down :) It came from a place of love at it's core for all the things that were missing from the massive events that we were getting to experience at the more private underground events. We wanted to bring that underground vibe to the masses, taking care of the little things and letting everybody know that this is all for their delight and everybody's experience is important. No lines, free water, chai, and candy, free shuttles from gated parking so cars weren't broken into, 2 semi-truck loads of bean bag chairs to sit on, and the biggest sound system that JK had done at the time for an event like this! This is a great time capsule of that night, so happy you captured this Le!

My first event I ever produced, and at 29:00 minutes you can hear my first set I ever played :) Epic video, great memories!

Very cool! I was part of the group that threw this event. Free water, free shuttle, etc....good memories
  • Now this brings back some good memories!!! 85th & Baldwin, home-based, Jack London, the old Newberry WH, 3rd & Harrison(SF). All these memories flashing back at once! Man!, this was a good time! Thanks for posting this! I was a hardcore dancer in these days & wish I would have recorded all the talent that existed in these days... Today all the dancers dance the same with that same old shuffle....

DUDE. that liquid child song... i was at my first party 'warmth' in the bay that year, but i have no clue where i was - i lived in tahoe at the time and had never been to the bay before. we got walked in from a parking lot... my friends were djs from sf (liam, owen, and their friend wu). i went to one other party that year, but can't remember the name. pretty sure wu spun there. what a trip! thanks for this, too.

Thank you for posting this! Despite the video/sound quality, it suffices to evoke beautiful memories of being at trance parties exactly around that time.

This makes the kids that think they go to 'raves' these days look so silly. Lol

My GOD!!😁😅😁❤️❤️❤️ Whatta absolute FLOOD of memories memories from last century, to right here and present! I never got to experience any of those parties, south of the Canadian border, but in 96, my rave cherry got popped in the biggest baddest way possible, and I LIVED the Toronto rave scene for nearly 20 years after that!!😁❤️😁 Thank you so much for posting this!!
