This GIANT Disney Coloring Page was a NIGHTMARE

I was excited to color this Tangled Disney poster, until I discovered how bad the PAPER was! I spent 7+ hours on this, and the entire process was so much harder than I expected, even with some special shortcuts and hacks! Was the end result worth all the stress?

Why don't you gesso the back of the paper next time. Markers won't bleed through and you still have a paper base to start with.
  • @Anchanee2008
If I'm allowed to offer a word of advice as a 'hobby artist': just copy the page with a lightbox onto sturdier paper. It would still be challenging to color it in and make it pretty, but you wouldn't have to fight so hard and spare yourself a lot of frustration. I don't think that anyone of us klicks on your videos just to see you struggle. You are an amazing artist and deserve to enjoy yourself when making art.

Sarah, you already proved time and time again you are capable of doing great art in crap paper. From now on you are more than allowed to use good paper. I don’t think your art should deserve anything less!❤
  • @Miss_Distress
I always start with at least some of the skin first. Because if I mess that up, it’s easy to start over. If I’ve done the whole page and then stuff up the face (or other most important part) it’s like I wasted hours. This turned out lovely though 😊

I saw some other suggesting gessoing the back, and I was going to suggest that as well; but ALSO use the clear textured gesso on the front AFTER you apply the alcohol markers, but BEFORE you start with the pencils. That way you can get the blending without the bleed-through, and you get the texture for the pencils to grip onto. Just a thought.
  • Hey Sarah! I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the effort u put in these videos! Thanks so much ❤

I love your work ! Even though the paper is thin you still did a masterpiece! I also hope that you color that GIANT color page you're an amazing artist
  • Awesome result Sarah! It's beautiful, not disappointing at all. I tape any kind of paper down when covering with gesso or latex, most of the warping disappears when dry, you could do a test of course, and, fine grit sand paper or even one of those foam fingernail files with four different emery surfaces will give your gesso, or the slickest paper an even texture and tooth...Thank you for sharing your adventures!!👍🤟🪡🎨

The end result is beautiful! The fight thru the ugly stage is a real struggle sometimes and trusting in the fact it will all work out in the end. And if not you learned a valuable lesson for the next attempt.

Oh Sarah, I so felt for you. Your anx while coloring this reminds me of myself when I'm learning new coloring techniques. In the end, it turned out nice, I would not have lasted that long. A good tip with the clear gesso, I have never considered using it in the way you did. Since receiving the Cube bundle, my pages, and free hands have improved in vibrancy and creativeness, thanks for such a great product!

Howdy and happy day and happy new year even! I finally was able to emerge from jobbing catastrophe. Lol! That paper looks horrifying and you are a brave soul for even attempting more than one medium on there. I’m glad you’ll save yourself from that again. But you do make the excruciating look amazing! Yet again you turn out a really wonderful piece. Thanks ya’ll! I hope alls well, and chipper cheerios!! :)
  • wow you did such a good job and I'm holding on tight for the next coloring poster
