[REACTION] Kendrick Lamar - Mother I Sober

Published 2024-05-11
After hearing Drake make reference to the song in his own song "The Heart Part 6" in which he tried to justify why Kendrick Lamar would make those allegations against him, and after seeing Twitter react and call out Drake for misinterpreting the meaning and purpose of the song, I decided I had to give it a listen to see what was what...

As a woman that is 56 years old that has been through incest, molestation and rape this song touch me in such a way I just fell to tears. We don’t talk about the trauma in our homes growing up. We are told what happens in my house stays in my house and it leaves us with trauma. So for Drake to make a assumption like this it bothered me to my core when I listened to this song. I tend to agree with Kendrick he is a disgusting individual

As a black man to see another black man cry is refreshing

I cry every time! I was furious when I heard Drake using this song and get it completely wrong. This song is so beautiful in its own way. Kendrick has a beautiful soul.♥️
  • The level of vulnerability is so beautiful and most importantly so so needed. Kendrick’s work carries so much weight and healing for the black culture, but also for all men at large. Also, the subtle acknowledgment of Whitney throughout this album speaks to me as a woman. We do help our men cleanse their wounds and heal.
  • I lost my brother's less than 60 days apart..this album brought me out of a very dark space..it will ALWAYS have a place in my heart

I’m so glad I’m not the only who felt this way, this song gets me every time, salute to you brother, that little voice that says thank you gets me every time ,

Atleast he confessed about his sins. You got people walking around here lying. That's why people should respect Kendrick as an artist. He never said he were perfect.
  • Yeeeah, bro — I know exactly how this track hits 💛 I'm in my late 30s and this joint makes me cry pretty much every time I play it. It's fkn hard to process your shit as a man because we're not taught to understand our emotions — they're like words in a foreign language. Took me 26 months with an excellent therapist to learn this 'language' along with the frameworks necessary to finally unpack, understand and process my trauma. And to this day it's the best investment I ever made — it enabled me to rebuild my identity — I'm finally a functional and stronger man. But it was gruelling work. Only childish Mfers think that feeling your emotions is a weakness. So when Kendrick calls out Drake for acting like a 7-year-old, I completely see what he's talking about. Because it takes courage to allow yourself to fully experience your raw emotions; It takes a strong man to face his pain and accept it as part of himself, and finally to accept himself as he truly is.

Real men cry! You definitely do not need hide it brother. This song makes me cry every single time that I hear it 🤎
  • Beautiful reaction. I hate Aubrey for using this incredible master work the way he did but also grateful everyone else gets to hear what we all heard when this song dropped. One of his most powerful songs. 💪🏼🙏🏼

Well, as dumb as Drake's take was on Mother I Sobber, I have to give him props. Thanks to that, ppl went back to listen to it, even ppl that never heard of it. Ppl calling this last album a flop on social media just shows us how society works. Mr Morale is masterpiece only when you're mentally able to go address your inner unsolved traumas.

At the end Whitney come back with him they live together in new York… I don’t get why this generation is saying that mr morals is not a good album that’s a classic album I’m 22 and this album healed me ❤ and yes both theses kids are kdot kids
  • Yeah, Drake trying to flip this song into something so disgusting turned me into an official Drake hater.
  • Thank you AUbree, from bringing everyone back to this masterpiece. This song was slept on and it was personally frustrating. The power of this message is culturally transformative. Toxic masculinity is not strength. Hiding is not brave. Thanks Drake for your blasphemy it brought us back to the beauty of this work of art. Kendricks pieta.

if the only thing this beef did was made more people listen to Mr Morale, then it would have been worth it
