  • Poseidon: “43 left under your-“ Elpinor falls Poseidon: “… 42 left under your command”
  • So basically “I died and nobody noticed… I was drunk and fell off a roof… BUT IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT ODY”
  • @inesderossi1580
"558 men... Who died under your command..." Odysseus: "558? Wait who died? I stopped at 557" Elpenor:...

Wow, the sheer variety of deaths of Odysseus' crew: - CRUSHED by a cyclops. - DROWNED by Poseidon. - DEVOURED by Scylla. - LIGHTNING BOLTED by Zeus. - Tripped a bit.

Odysseus: Aight crew! Let's set off on our odyssey! Crew: What's an odyssey? Odysseus: It's a grand adventure named after the sole survivor! Crew: Oh okay... wait what?!

Even though Elpenor was completely scrapped from the soundtrack, he definitely needs to be a character in the broadway show. Nothing big, but just a noticeable background character in the first few Sagas. That “wow” scene was absolutely perfect for the way he should be portrayed Then you need to have him appear at the very end of There are Other Ways where he falls and dies. Have it be really quick, in the background, and bring no attention to it. Everyone is so focused on the epic climax of the song that nobody is looking at the corner of the stage. Then of course have him with the dead soldiers when they travel into the Underworld. But it doesn’t stop there, imagine if his spirit made a few random cameos throughout the show in the background. A blink and you will miss it type of thing. I feel like Elpenor has the perfect potential to be one of those random background characters that fans absolutely love and meme about. Imagine like Peggy from Hamilton. An essentially pointless character that somehow works his way into being seen as one of the “main characters.”

RIP Elpenor: he died and nobody noticed, he died and nobody cared
  • @Charlie.winion
I love the harmony for the men singing “Elpenor!” I DIED 👻🥺 and NOBODY NOTICED 😖 I DIED 😱🥺 AND NOBODY CARED ✨😔
  • @Jordan.A.07
Odysseus: What happened? Elpenor: I blame it on the juice. It had me feeling loose.
  • Don't worry Elpenor, about 167 000 people noticed and cared abt your death, your tale will be told for generations to come as "the drunken soldier who fell off the roof of Circe's palace" and you shall be forever remembered as such.. Rest in peace, Elpenor, may your spirit fly high.. 😔🙏🏽
  • Btw i love how the odysseus was like "i took 600 men to war and not one of them died there 😎" and litterally 5 songs later "558 men who died under your comand"
  • I kinda wish he was kept in. Yeah the line is funny but Odysseus not even noticing he died because no many other people died is such an interesting idea
  • @LP-tf7cy
I honestly think it works for the way you characterize Odysseus that he gets the math wrong for how long he's been fighting, but doesn't miss a single one of his men.
  • @elli1579
I noticed the 558 and was so proud that you remembered Elpenor. Just sat there like "he ain´t forgeting the math this time"
  • I like to imagine the souls of all the men who died to Poseidon and the cyclops staring at Elpenor and going "The audacity of this guy...."
  • @madisyngolab330
I caught this too!! Man, EPIC should just be called, "The Tale of Odysseus and His Idiot Crew"
  • @codenate02
The idea of a random death basically calling Odysseus out "I died and you didn't even realize because I'm just one of the hundreds of people who died under your leadership" is a good one, but it probably WOULD be next to impossible to write "I got drunk, fell off a roof, and died. And none of my friends noticed I was gone" in a way that wouldn't come off as far too comedic for the Underworld's vibe. Anyway #justiceforelpenor
  • Imagine if Odysseus counted the people who died from Poseidon/Polyphemus and was like “Huh. We’re missing one.” And Elpenor is just in the corner
