Russia will have to deploy 'elite' troops to fight Ukraine's incursion in the Kursk region, as it will do "whatever it takes" to claim back Russian ground.

Security and defence analyst Professor Michael Clarke has told Sky News the incursion is "getting bigger" and "seems to be 30 miles long and around 18 miles deep" which in military terms is "pretty big".

He said the battle will be measured "in days and weeks not weeks and months".

Ukraine just took more territory in the last 5 days than Russia managed in the last year. Incredible stuff. Russia has thoroughly humiliated itself.
  • The most important thing about the Kursk attack is not occupy those territories , it"s more to cause political and psychological effect on the Russian population. They will take significant amount of POW"s and eventually retreat. Even if Ukrainians are kicked out of Russia, the scar will remain. It is similar to what the North Vietnamese did to the US in the 1968 Tet Offensive during the Vietnam war. US civilians were told everything was going well in Vietnam until that offensive changed everything and people began to question the war.

The Ukraine has caused a stir, raised morale, taken prisoners. Even if they now withdraw again, they could inflict heavy losses on the Russian troops again.

I am hopeful for a land swap. Give Ukraine back all of their land.
  • @kark56cc
Ukraine could force a land swap?
  • Interviewer asks pertinent, brief questions, and Clarke responds with pertinent, clear, plausible answers. Kudos!

Russia is like that guy that tried to beat up a defenseless woman just to find out that the woman was 3 time golden gloves champion man that pretends to be a woman.
  • Wow, what's this, the 3rd or 4th time Clark has made a true statement about this war??
