Eugene telling Lil Nas X that he is an inspiration and then Lil Nas X answering that he watched Eugene growing up so influencing him to grow up to be an inspiration. Damn. That made me cry
  • @swingloveEKL
Anyone else feel like Eugene didn't get a fair chance because they gave him so little notice that he was invited? Only a week to prepare when most people know MONTHS in advance if they're going is not fair at all
  • @sashafire1987
I wanna see what Eugene would do when he's properly invited and gets months to prepare for it, he's one of the most creative people I've ever seen.
  • The fact that you had a designer who didnā€™t carry through with your look, and you still have nothing nasty to say about them, says so much about you Eugene. I think it would be hard even for the most level headed person to not have an absolute breakdown over that. But you looked amazing, and canā€™t wait to see your looks in future years šŸ˜‰
  • they really did eugene dirty by inviting him so last minute. if he had months and months like so many others had im sure he wouldā€™ve been able to achieve his vision
  • @jesswinter
I kind of want to see a redo episode where Eugene gets a dress designed exactly as he would have wanted
  • @auntydale3379
And kudos to Eugene for not displaying the clothes from designers that he chose not to wear. So much integrity. And so much class for not naming the designers who let him down at the eleventh hour.
  • Roman: "awww he didn't wanna cheat on me with another stylist" Also Roman: "YOU DOLT! You should've gotten a stylist"
  • @ladynoluck
Itā€™s definitely unfair to everyone involved (invited person, designers, stylists, etc.) to give not even a full weekā€™s notice.
  • @izzybells6813
Matt contradicting everything Eugenes saying about what he was like is so funny to me
  • @Esqm
I donā€™t think Eugene knows how truly aspiring and loved he is. He represents Asians He represents the Queer community He represents Entrepreneurs (buying TryGuys and leaving Buzzfeed) He represents so so much to me. I have never been so happy and proud of this person right here. I really wish he is invited next year and killlls it with that Eugene flare
  • @laurelleaves
i'm glad eugene didn't name the designer because people have still gone on to blame them for something that was quite honestly out of their control. eugene got 6 days notice, the designer clearly had other clients but tried their best to fit him in, and then it was clear the dress not getting there was because of an emergency with another client. THREE DIFFERENT FASHION EVENTS WERE HAPPENING AT ONCE. literally eugene getting a designer at all was a feat in of itself. i'm so glad it all ended up working out at the end!!
  • I appreciate how kind Eugene was to the designer but he was perhaps a little too kind. Like, what he was asking was certainly a tall order but saying yes to a client when you're so busy you can't even get them in for a fitting? That's not exactly responsible business practice.
  • @mbanerjee5889
Don't worry Eugene, you'll definitely attend more Met Galas.
  • @ssk4609
In many ways, having the original plan fall through, but finding that perfectly fitting Dior suit, having kind, helpful people pull you through an overwhelming moment, overcoming challenges, rising to meet the moment albeit the emotional rollercoaster ride you experienced, and ultimately, killing it is as American as you can get. Iā€™d say you rocked the Metā€™s In America theme. That is so America, isnā€™t it? You slayed, Eugene!!
  • @theo8037
An idea: the borrowed vintage designer suit was pretty much exactly what your mom would have given you because it was, well, designer and good looking but since it wasn't new and already worn it was affordable and into that base you build your own style and identity through the red accents in make up and shoes, the hair and the jewelry. Just what came to mind while watching the video
  • @movecount
"The day of, I wake up, and I'm surprisingly calm." "Eugene was not calm."
  • This breaks my heart that Eugene didnā€™t have a fair chance at wearing a proper outfit that he absolutely loved šŸ„ŗ
  • I hope Eugene gets invited next year and can get exactly what he wants that would fit his vision šŸ„° he looked stunning during the gala and I canā€™t wait to see what he could look like if it all goes right
  • @averyeml
Dude, I CANNOT imagine the insane bravery and boldness it takes to go to the freaking Met Gala in a borrowed tux you didnā€™t get until 30 minutes before the red carpet and just calling it what you can. I wouldā€™ve passed out and died two days into this lmao
