  • @Hellfiresfury
As a westerner raised by a classicly trained singer, your singing is absolutely wonderful, no creep detected. I absolutely love the throaty pitch and rythmic cadence. I can see you becoming a master of your craft in time and with your dedication! And a deep thanks to your sensei for granting this wonderful and facinating look into the training and production of Noh. I have always delighted in it's performance!
  • @Zakuru12
Whoever said your traditional singing is creepy was very rude. IMO I always imagined that back in the day, singing was more like mimicking the instruments people had at the time. Instruments being made first and singing second. And I definitely see this with Ji-utai sounding more like traditional Japanese instruments. :3
  • This video is so interesting! I am an italian theater actor and see a different form of theater, from different cultures, is the most beautiful thing! Thank you so much for sharing this moments with all of us! 🙏🏻
  • Your singing is fantastic Shogo! Cant wait to see more of your Noh progression :)
  • To me, the Ji-utai singing in Noh Teather sounds like Buddhist Chants that Monks Perform in Tempels. The First Image that came in my Mind was that of Tibetan Buddhist Monks singing in Lhasa Tibet in Topala Palace!
  • Remember how i find Noh theater scenes and tried to find subtitles for them..but in vain. But their comedies is still classic comedy, even without full context :D
  • @CineShinya
I am always thrilled to see the Noh videos in the channel. It's very dear to me, since my thesis was about it and back at the time the Japanese Embassy of my country even took my thesis in their library of Educational Department. It was a great honour. And while my thesis subject has been about Noh masks and stage and the comparison to Ancient Greek Tragedy's, the more I watch the Ji-utai part, reminds me of the Greek Orthodox Church chanting soundwise. It's very interesting.
  • @healthgrips
i absolutely love ji-utai! i think it's beautiful, and combined with the movements and dance is really relaxing to experience. i love watching noh performances and would always be happy to see more information and training like this!
  • @Ambizious
    love japan's culture & their food 😃
  • @KillerBebe
One day if you can make a video explaining the means behind the movement of the body and the fan, I assume that it conveys nuances to the audience.
  • @wbobth
in the music books, do you have words and note values, like we would have in western style music, or do you just have words, and you must then memorize tone and rhythm by hearing your sensei?
  • Learning japan's culture especially kyoto I am fascinated on various arts and performance which I am in awe
  • Shogo is so talented! Sings like a professional Noh theatre singer!😊
  • Very beautiful. Some day would love to see a Noh performance. Thank you to your Sensei.
  • @ladywoodelf
This reminds me of classical ballet in a way. Ballets like 'Swan Lake', Giselle or Nutcracker have very rigid structured dances that have been the same choreography for decades, but the performers and dance companies all have a specific style that comes out.
  • @pocky1624
Noh really reminds me of Khon and Lakon Khol because similarly while performing you also wear masks when portraying specific characters. When dancing you use your whole body in each intricate step. And the singing expresses and tells the story of the performance.
  • We have been watching these on NHK here, it's fascinating. Thank you. Take care. Stay safe 🙏 John and Kate.
  • Love Noh theater! So cool and special! Thank you so much for sharing, Shogo!
