"a babygirl's a babygirl, and to be a babygirl you need to commit atrocities sometimes." - Coley 2023
  • The worst fanfic experience I've had was when I was reading a 70-something chapter fic, all with about 10k words, that was so good it emotionally destroyed me, and I went to sleep with three chapters left and when I woke up the next morning it had been deleted 💀

3:50 One time I was in a fandom that only had 3 total fics on AO3 and it didn’t even have an official fandom tag so I feel this so hard 💀

Okay! Confession time ✨️ At my school, the teachers use this thing called "GoGuardian", basically meaning they can see what we're on. Well, in 6th grade, I was reading some shrek x obama kinktober crackfic, and my history teacher, Mr. Harty, told me to get a better taste in fanfiction. He didnt even get upset, he straight up told me "Ashlynn, if i have to watch your screen all hour at least get a better fanfic taste."

don’t pretend we’re not all unhinged
  • Anyone who can actually read everything on screen without having to pause at every single tiktok isn’t human

I am an author with a Sailor Moon fic that's been on hiatus for four years now. I get sucked into new fandoms and then focus on writing and updating stories for them, all while thinking "I should finish that chapter 30 WIP." Except then I go back to reread my own fic, and start noticing little errors and things that could be improved, and I say to myself "Okay, I will finish this chapter and update once I have revised and edited all the previous chapters!" So I update a few of them at a time, but get distracted by my other stories, and it just devolves into this cycle of procrastination and perfectionism 🙃

I have a confession to make. I created a 157,000+ word fan fic with 72 chapters. It is not completed. I've abandoned it 2 years ago. Once in a blue moon, I get a comment by someone asking me to please finish it. However, those moments I find myself staring at the sunset, debating to myself, whether or not I want to go back into that frantic haze. Typing away as if my life depends on it. Somehow drawing 103 images and creating 27 GIFs for the fic. To this day, I don't know how I accomplished that. It was as if a call from the void compelled me to do it. Suddenly, one day that siren stopped calling my name. And then I abandoned the fic.
  • The "english is not my first language" one is so true 😭😭😭 I remember reading an incomplete (9/20) fic w 500k words and the fact author MANAGES to write at least 50k words each chapter w perfect grammar and syntax WITHOUT english being their first language just 😭😭😭😭😭
  • @Ficilo
When your reading the the worst fanfic ever but gotta keep going because of the small fanbase I felt that
  • My worse experience was a fanfiction that was incredible, like 5,000+ words a chapter - nearing 40 chapters. Nearly finished. Slow burn, enemies to lovers that was so true to the characters. It was wildly popular and read, it had fanart and everything. Then, people who disliked how popular it was bullied the author off the internet. It was deleted. I hope they are okay. We spoke in comments sometimes, and they seemed really nice. I’ve seen people on reddit asking for ways to get it available to them again, because it was just that loved.

Me: I'm not obsessed with fanfics! Also me : WHY HAVEN'T THIS FANDOM/ TAG HAVE BEEN UPDATED IN THE LAST WEEK?! Me: okay... I might have a problem...
  • @Bane_Amesta
Honestly I never studied English as a second language with so much passion until I had to write fanfic lol Like, usually we don't care about little mistakes in FB posts or whatever, but a bigger piece of writing everyone can see and judge? Bish I'm treating this as a high level priority lmao
  • @akten3659
the fact that people do continue the fanfics after a lot of time is something that i knew of but never experienced- i saw 2 years old fanfic from autor who stopped writing half a year ago get updated only to read that the autor passed away (happened 4 times-)

“Dead dove is an acquired taste, but sometimes you just need that funk in your mouth, y’know?-“ immediately followed by the instant regret- 💀
  • why does this make me realize that my 'dead inside' status only applies to everything except fanspaces
  • You've read 'My Immortal' MULTIPLE TIMES!? Coley, you are much stronger than I could ever be. Even the video of you reading it, I couldn't get through even 1/4th of the first chapter. Got through like 7 sentences and that's it 😂
