I have a friend from college who had hair with similar texture as this man in the video and he had a pretty voluminous afro. During college, he was very depressed and neglected his hair because of his lack of motivation and energy because of his mental illness. The back of his head was super matted so I sat with him and combed out his mattes from like 7pm to 7am. You never know what that person is going through so I am super glad you mentioned that. Your clients locs look amazing and I'm glad he got some help for his hair. Some people are too embarrassed to get help so it gets even worse. Great video and thank you for the education!

This woman is absolutely amazing..... AMAZING. SHE is the reason I go so hard on maintaining my locs and making them as healthy as they can be.

I'm white and not a hairdresser. This just found its way to my feed. Im glad I watched it! what skill and what a transformation! I was most astonished by how long the appointment took. So many intricate steps. Masterful
  • Your hands are blessed and yes we cannot judge ppl before getting their hair done. Ppl come from all walks and I really appreciate they allowed us " the social media family" full disclosure of their hair repair. I learn something new each time i watch your channel so i truly Thank you DXLYN for all your good work and great talent.❤

To add on to the before situation, not everyone can do it themselves. Like she said in the beginning there was a lot of product from the last loctician’s install. I’m sure if he had the know-how or time to do it he probably would have done it himself. As his locs being sort of mullet looking, I assume the top came detached and he didn’t know how to put them back in. Regardless of any of this, remember that we’re watching these videos to learn from a professional and how to avoid getting in the “befores” not to fixate on the client’s decisions with their own hair.

I've never gotten my hair done professionally. I've always just done if myself, but this looks awesome, you did a great job
  • @dusroots
The ending gave me chills! I see people disrespect the model/client all the time in other videos. Good job sis!! 🙌🏿♥️
  • @chelsea7755
I love what you've said at the end regarding people's "before". We know nothing about their situation and need to have less judgement and more love and compassion. Beautiful job and a beautiful soul. ♡ thank you for making people feel better about themselves and their situation.

You ALWAYS seem to amaze me with your work. I also love how you pointed out that we don't know what the client is going through and please respect the client with no rude comments. You are BOSS DXLYN 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
  • Nice job!! I naturally grew my LOCS and I’m 20yrs in and you literally made this man’s LOCS looks just a good as mine could ever be when going to my loctition! Great 👍🏾 job!!! Keep up the great skills!!!

I loved this video on ALL levels. And thank you for stating one should not judge the client in their prior photos. Their circumstances are unknown and should be treated with respect. I've had my locks get so bad I had to cut them. My depression, being a workaholic and insomniac caused me to fall behind in some areas of self care and self love. So thank you for that. Hair is so ~personal~ and more so in the black community. I appreciate you. ❤

Perfect install, love how you take care of ALL your clients even those who come after there hair has been damaged by other stylist.

This is more than a transformation.. you brought this hair back to life
  • @teabrown02
I remember him coming in for his consultation and have been WAITING for his transformation lol. Such a fun person. You and your team did AMAZING. Chef kisses 🥰

I was just scrolling and came upon this video and I was intrigued because I love a good before and after but what I loved more than anything was the end where you ask that the client be respected and don't judge him because no one knows what brought him here. I absolutely LOVE THAT. I think people can be very judgemental without knowing anything. I appreciate your concern for your client so much and I'm sure he does too.
  • Big 7 months on my lock life and very proud of myself for starting them. Love your video you truly show me how to love and take care of my locks.
  • I can tell you love what you do for people. That was a lot of work, and I'm sure the outcome gave him a renewed sense of confidence.
