No one starts with the idea of breaking a world record. You just start making progress little by little and until you realize it you have actually become fast.

This guy literally learned the cube for this video, and not only learned, but he actually got better at it. That is dedication, he is a champ.
-
3 years later and now official sub 3 solves are becoming more and more likely, it's insane how far the hardware and the hobby has come in such a short time.
-
*human solves Rubik's cube in less than 4 seconds* Humanity: cool, do it faster.

I used this video to learn to solve the 3X3. It took roughly 2 months. I can now solve in 40-50 seconds. The strange thing is that I no longer remember the algorithms, as it has turned into muscle memory. Great video!

This was the first video that got me into cubing. I now average sub 17 seconds with CFOP, and owe my thanks to WIRED

Great video :) one of my favorite series on YT and you definitely did speedcubing justice here!

1. Buy a Rubik's cube. 2. It's already solved. 3. ????? 4. Profit!

This was awesome. I never thought I'd watch a 15-minute video on this (even though I've finally cracked how to solve one), but the presentation was phenomenal and this time just flew by.

5 second YouTube ad exists This guy: alright I'm gonna solve a rubik's cube real quick

This is what I like with wired. They actually have a proper look into how cubing works, and doesn't just look at the first result on Google like mainstream media. Great vid ☺️

Is there anyone out there like me who is having a hard time learning this skill. My son gets it. He understands the algorithms very well. I call him the puzzle man. He wrote everything down for me and I'm still confused. I get to a certain point and then I'm lost. I admire those who have mastered this puzzle. It inspires me to keep trying.

I just got into cubing a few weeks back, but this piece seems incredibly well researched and done. Kudos to the reporter!

This reporter is really good. All his works are so well built and constructed. Congratulations mate
-
1:25 dang that guy counted all the grains of sand Now that’s commitment
-
Max Park just set the world record for 3.134 seconds. Granted, not under 3 yet... but dam, that's close.

Such a good video. You guys really gave such respect and appreciation to such an intelligent and niche artform and its community (:
