The Original Journal entry
You are the main character of your movie
You are the director and the editor
You get to choose where you point the camera.
What scenes to cut and keep
At some point in your life you have heard this or been told this
And its an amazing idea ? Who wouldn’t think so ?
After all our preconceived ideas of what happiness, love, passion looks like is a derivation from movies and films.
Films are some of the most beautiful artforms because it recruits multiple sense organs and is very effective in depicting feelings that sometimes words rant enough to express.
And while I do subscribe to the be the main character in your own movie
I feel we have taken it too far.
We have become obsessed with making the perfect movie.
The perfect job, the perfect love story and the perfect life
And when we have scenes that depict anything less than that ,
We are quick to delete those frames and jump cut to the next perfect moment
We have become so obsessed with trying to paint the perfect picture
And curate the perfect feed that we forget that even the most perfect movies and stories are filled
With imperfections, ridiculed with mistakes and overrun with embarrassments
Unlike movies where all the imperfections are clipped out our life is not so
While we can work really hard and make everything look picture perfect on the outside,
Don’t forget that its not
And its nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of ,
Because remember behind every perfect picture, every heart gripping love story,
Every inspiring success story has 1000s of mistakes, screw ups and failures
and its only because of these 1000s of imperfections that it looks so perfect but also what humanises it and allows to connect on a profound level
