This is actually accurate to lore. Master chief was around 7 foot 3 to 5 with armor on so it makes sense for him to look this much bigger than the oridinary humans around him who are more than likely under 6 foot. He was also not even the largest spartan which says alot about how huge the Spartans are.

When this came out and I first saw how much taller Chief was, I assumed it had to do with him meeting the librarian and having his evolutionary process sped up. The result was him getting even taller. And the excuse for the suit adapting to his height change would be the same way it evolved from halo 3’s suit. Nano machines, son.

I’ve always liked the scene. It’s actually a great bit of quiet symbolism. Master chief had been gone for years. The spartan iv program was the pride and envy of everyone in the military. These men and women figured they were the best of the best, and that shows with palmers disregard towards chief. At this point, she thinks that she could’ve done everything he did. She respects his career but sees him (like many) as an aging relic of an era where humanity was scared and defenseless. But at the end, everyone is forcefully reminded of the legend of 117. As he waded through literal armies, and killed a millennia old forerunner. Even to the Spartans, he is larger than life in that moment. And that reminder, that standing next to the weight of all the hopes of humanity on his shoulders, that these men and women, were mere toy soldiers playing at war. That they had never stood where he stood. For all of their fancy armor and bio engineering, for all that they may be similar they are not the same.

This comparison is funny because it makes it look like Chief can spontaneously grow when he wants
