FYI there are some FAQs in the vid description (e.g. tent, hammock, stick stove). This is the full 22-day trip and by far the longest vid we've ever posted. It's broken up into 3 movie-length chapters or ~10-minute days in the playback bar/video description so you can break it up any way you like. I know some of you prefer multi-part...I prefer to binge and get lost in the content and feel like I experienced it. (And episodic content generally performs worse than single long format on YT.) Anyway, hope you enjoy :) Nancy Scott's book on Nipigon (the one referenced in the vid) is linked here along with all my book recommendations: amzn.to/46i2Kyx

I love, that in the era of 30 second reels and TikTok, you can pull people like me in with a three hour video. Trust yourself, you’re heading in the right direction.
  • @XanderBudnick
I've been a fan for well over 40 years now, since you were sub 1 subscribers. Before "Lost Lakes", Before "Backcountry Angling Ontario" Back when you were simply "TroutSlayer420" To say that I'm excited for this is an understatement
  • The cinematic shots, the music, the slight bits of narration just make this video so so good. I truly felt at peace watching this video. Thank you for this masterpiece of a video!
  • I woke up in the middle of the night, found your video and spent the rest of the night watching it as if in a dream, canoeing with you. What a magnificent lake journey beautifully filmed, with great music. As an avid backpacker who has hiked the Canadian Rockies, California’s Sierra mountains, and the Appalachian trail (in stages), your film inspires me to do more riparian explorations by canoe. You’re both admirable canoeists and the kind of adventurers I would enjoy as companions. Only this advice I offer: When you encounter an animal that poses no threat, and one that you want to observe, stay perfectly still. I was thrilled for you both, especially Erin, when you sighted the caribou. But it was approaching nonchalantly when Erin moved, or she might have had a closer and more rewarding encounter with it, possibly passing her close by. Thank you for sharing your adventure in such cinematic beauty.

I'm out of words expressing my feelings about this film . Lets agree everyone that this is a masterpiece no one has ever achieved on a YouTube channel
  • I’ve been yearning for a Lost Lakes video, and what you’ve given us is beyond compare. It may not be intentional but you’ve developed a distinctive brand in the world of wilderness adventure videos, characterized by quality, integrity, superb cinematography, extraordinary attention to details, humour, and a quietly powerful voice. Your music choices are perfect mood enhancers. Truly, this was equal to the best feature films, and I didn’t want it to end. I smiled, gasped in awe, and wept with joy and emotion during the caribou sequence. You and Erin are delightful together and I wish you a happy wedding and a wonder-filled life. Thank you so much for bringing us along with you. I’ll be watching this one again soon.

Thank You, for making this wonderful journey!!! I am 80, and not very mobile, however; Thank to you...I am able to experiencea very close adventure! I appreciate; your periods of silences; they allow me to share the Breath-taking moments of the Mitacles, along the way! Best wishes, on your wedding and years as a married Couple!! Your gift, of a Down Feather, touched m heart, too,
  • @vresor
4 hours? That’s at least three times as long as any YouTube video I’ve watched. Worth every second! Amazing story, outstanding videography. Strong effort by both of you. Very inspiring. Thank you!
  • @joannetutor4051
I binged it! Could not stop! You called it a masterpiece of a lake, I call this a masterpiece of a video! You two are a terrific team and I want to thank you for this journey. You did all the hard work while we all get to enjoy the sights and sounds. ❤❤❤
  • I don't know that I will ever watch another wilderness adventure video as amazing as this one! So grateful to have watched this magical ride on the Mother of the Great lakes.
  • @willw4541
After watching all 3h50m there are 3 things I'd like to say. 1, you two are a delightful couple, and absolutely badass adventurers. 2. I am grateful you shared this trip of a lifetime so I could enjoy lake Nipigon with you. It was on my bucket list for years, but surviving lung cancer has crossed out some things on the list for me. 3. When I am up that way craving sweets, I recommend the Serendipity Cafe in Rossport. They make the best cheesecake you may ever experience in your life. And the serving is so huge, it is easily enough to share a slice. Thank you for the couch adventure. ❤
  • @johnscally1969
Hey guys, just want to thank you for sharing your wonderful heartfelt experiences with the world. I'm from Ireland 55 yrs old. Don't ever doubt your own actions. You make a great team, come off very respectful and empathetic to both each other & nature, and are an inspiration to anyone wanting to become a better person. Best of luck to you both and keep bringing out the best of each other. ❤❤

  • @ldirk58601
I have so many comments but all I can manage to say is The Photography in this video is beyond good. Like, wow. That underwater shot of the pike!! And the Sunset and the drone and I am only 40 minutes in. Wow.
  • @EmilyVidd
It's a privilege to watch! Thank you! My only hope is lakes like this remain lost and only navigated by experienced people like you, who have earned your place in the wilderness. So special!
  • @paulbunion1244
Outstanding documentary! BTW, Erin, she cooks, she cleans, she paddles, she gathers firewood...what a keeper!
  • @nicibaughman
Im a kayaker from Vancouver Island. You make Canadians proud!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦 Beautiful cinematography, excellent editing, pacing and storytelling. This film should be nominated for an award....just exceptional!
  • We have to say that you are BY FAR the VERY BEST at making videos of this nature. The quality, the steady filming, the editing is so WELL DONE. We have been watching the videos for some time now and have come to realize that you are GREAT at this. We always like your pairing up with Xander, but you are also quite fortunate to have your fiance taking these adventurous trips along with you. She seems quite capable at sharing these trips. We watched the ENTIRE video while having a few beers and had a great evening doing so. Thanks for posting this CLASSIC. We also hope you can get out again some time with your Dad. Those were well done as well. Here's hoping the knee is mending well.
  • OMG! I just watched this Beautiful Couple and Masterpiece! Thank You from the Center, The Heart, of Mexico. I lived 25 years in NE Wash. State and many other Natural Places and truly miss paddling, camping, watching Northern Lights, Loons, Eagles. Mexico has many one of a Kind Beauties, but the Great North has my Heart. Thank You both again! Paz a Todos, M
