Imagine going for a hike and you casually stroll by Yo-Yo Ma absolutely shredding J.S Bach's Cello Suit No. 1
  • Amazing. He plays the entire time solely from memory, with a smile on his face. A beautiful human.

Mr. Ma, you are a national treasure bringing healing and beauty to our country in a difficult time. Thank you, as ever.
  • Imagine being the little frog chilling in that stream listening to Bach played by Yo Yo Ma 🐸

Mr. Ma shared that this was the first piece of music he learned to play (at age 4). All the different versions he plays takes on an entirely different dimension of artistry when we realize we are getting to hear his evolution and experiences as a person expressed in each version at different points in his life. It's akin to a 60-year long performance art piece. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, Mr. Ma; it is a womderful opportunity to be able to behold. I've listened to this piece through my whole life and I too can reflect on how I've changed through the years of listening to it and how it sounds differently to me now.

Bach in a bach 🥰 (Bach is the German word for a small stream). Beautiful performance and scenery! Thank you🙏🏻

I'm Brazilian, and from this country full of social ills, for years listening and seeing Mr. Yo-Yo Ma, the greatest cellist in the world, beautifies my life, brings me peace and even brought me the passion for the cello. Mr. Yo-Yo Ma, any word of gratitude from us for providing us with such magnificent art and for being such a simple and unaffected person is insufficient. May you, with your lofty music, reach more and more and always humble people, suffering and in need of a balm that will remove them, even for a moment, from their misfortunes.

The happiness I feel as I watch Yo-Yo Ma happily and beautifully play his cello by the stream is indescribable 💚

The smile on his face at the end is so pure, like a child who genuinely rejoices over the beautiful music. Yo-yo Ma is such a magnificent artist with a perpetually curious mind. We are so fortunate to have him in our time. ♥️

One of the best performances by Yo-Yo Ma. We are blessed to enjoy this concert by the little stream in the backdrop. Thank you for this wonderful combination of gifts from nature - the trees, the flowing water, and Yo-Yo Ma.

Having listened to his 1998 Cello Suite recordings a hundred times, the differences in articulation and timing are fascinating. So many ways to express these pieces.

How exciting, I already told you how much we admire you? Only you can play the cello that way, it's so important in music, please take care of your health, we love you

A genius playing Bach what could one wish for better than this❤
  • ❤ Having a teen daughter as a cello/music student... it's a major pleasure listening her playing Bach... Yo-Yo Ma is her favourite cellist and mine too.❤

💕A calmly flowing stream is like life - and the sounds of a cello are like the turbulent destinies of people. Thank you for the beauty of nature and for your game, Maestro 🦋.
