Misinformed Angry Customer says "You're not a very nice person!"

Published 2021-09-17
Good morning everyone! Today the Trainee and I had a flooring order that was to be delivered and the customer was under the impression that we were going to put the order in the garage. We called the customer prior to leaving the shipper and confirmed with the delivery staff at the shipper and the manager that it was a curbside delivery and that because of recent spikes in unprecedented events that we would not be entering any dwellings. needless to say the customer was not happy when he offered us 50 bucks to put the merchandise inside his house and we declined and he was not happy when we told him that we weren't going to do an in garage delivery.

as always we appreciate you guys watching make sure you smash that like button leave a comment down below hit that subscribe button hit the notification bell make sure you select all for all the video notifications for all of our content.

That he immediately offered you $50 to put it in the garage means he knew that was a extra.
  • They can move it themselves in ten minutes and burn off a few pounds in the process lol, well done mate

My husband and I put a complete deck of composite in our garage. No problem getting wet, more worried about theft. It was 90 degrees outside. We offered the driver's drinks and snacks Because we asked nicely, they brought it as close as possible, to our garage and positioned it for easy access. It's all about how you treat your delivery folk. I drove a semi so trust, they know what they're doing and talking about in their videos.

I never thought I'd be so entertained watching home deliveries but here I am

He knew already, why he offered $50 up front.
  • Those guys sounded like the type that would take photos of your tire tracks on their driveway, and try and sue you.

When I had delivered furniture, a famous line was, "oh come on, It's just up the stairs" I always felt the best response was, "It's just about 200 pounds, you shouldn't have much trouble."

I love how folks think that cursing at someone will change a predetermined outcome. Seriously, how screwed up is your mind for you to think treating another human like trash is how you get your way?

This disconnect has to be corrected. The store promises whatever the customer wants to make the sale. Then the reality makes for conflict with the driver.

As his kids are standing there. Man make the kids put it in the garage instead of playing video games 🤣 at least you were nice enough to bring it up to the garage 👊🏻

I appreciate how calmly you inform the customer what your job is, and what it isn't.

They try to make you feel bad. I like how fast you turned down that 50 bucks. That wouldn't be anything if you got sued.

I did this same job in 1999 here in WA state, and it's not surprising to see that a few customers all across the country have this sense of entitlement when it comes to service. I once had an afternoon delivery of 5 full wraps of sheetrock, and when I got to the jobsite about an hour before quitting time, the customer says he wants it all placed inside the house. Not inside the garage (which wouldn't be happening anyway)- no, he expects it to be delivered to the rooms they will go in, including the 2nd floor. I compromised and put the stacks right in front of the house, even though the ground was almost too soft for me to maneuver the Spider forklift. The customer was livid, but I explained to him that he's lucky that I'm placing them next to his front door, and not 400 ft away at the street, and that he either accepts the delivery on my terms (and very quickly, because I was very close to running out of legal duty hours), or it all was going back to the store. I was employed by Ryder Integrated Logistics then, and not by the retailer, and on jobs like these, the retailer would never stand behind the driver and his decisions.

These shops should make people sign a disclaimer saying that they understand it's a kerbside delivery, and what that means. This would eliminate 99% of grievances.
  • @cuteface88
I would have left it at the very end of his driveway and then laughed as I walked back to my truck. You're actually a very nice person, contrary to what the customer said lmao.

7:50 Love that worker solidarity, first bump and laugh. Great video

There are four of them standing there and it's one little pallet. Even if dude couldn't lift it for some reason the other three could unload that pallet in 5 minutes... I like the way you handled that - get in, get your picture and get out. You took enough time to explain but didn't waste your time listening to them bitch. Good job guys!!!
  • @cdub
I totally get where the customers are coming from, "initially." Some of these stores go out of their way to avoid making it clear that the delivery is third party, and they'll promise whatever you ask, just to make a sale, or they'll say something like, "Yeah, that's no problem at all, just remind our driver when he gets there." So the customer ends up thinking they've got an understanding, and that you're just an a-hole employee of the store in question... unless/until you spell it out for them. At that point a normal person would be pissed at their sales person, but yeah, some of them do direct it unfairly toward the driver. Let's be honest though... you love it. ;)

Love a guy who does the bare minimum. That's the epitome of customer service.
