Evangelical pastor Doug Pagitt, Executive Director of Vote Common Good, joins Morning Joe to discuss the growing number of evangelical voters shifting away from Donald Trump, highlighting how Trump’s "lack of kindness" has caused many in the Christian community to reconsider their support. He explains that Trump’s behavior is increasingly out of step with the values of faith-driven voters, suggesting that if Harris can win over a significant portion of white evangelicals in key swing states, it could reshape the future of the MAGA movement.

Lack of kindness is far too mild. He is amoral, vicious, vengeful, narcissistic, evil.
  • @leesa7489
he has never been kind! They are just noticing now?

"Lack of kindness"?! What about lack of morals, integrity, discipline, honesty, kindness, humility, just overall goodness?! It's unbelievable all of these things were ignored. 🙄
  • I would’ve thought that the policy of separating children from parents at the border as a deterrent would have been problematic for Evangelicals?
  • Better late then never, but man, if they're just now realizing this, there is something seriously wrong with their judgement of character skills.

trump's lack of kindness has been on full display from the get-go. These people knew he was cruel and unkind and just about as un-Christlike as you can get, but they willingly looked past all that and voted for him anyway. If they'd been half this "concerned" back when, we might not be in the mess we are today. Nope, they don't get a pass from me.

when has the Evangelicals been about kindness & not about money, abusive power, cruelty & control?

We need to break away from this idea that political and religious identity are one in the same. It's terribly destructive.
  • I was raised in the church with my mom staunchly religious - no excuses for missing Sunday services. Respect your parents and your elders. Be polite, no cussing and respect women. But she was also a die-hard Trump supporter and would not listen to evidence of him violating every value she raised me by. I never understood how she could reconcile her professed faith with her political commitment. I have not lost my faith, in fact my commitment to that faith guides me far away from accepting that man as a leader for the people.

He truly is the most harmful, and cruel politician in modern history.

I can't imagine calling myself a Christian and supporting Donald Trump; I would have to give one up.
  • Lack of kindness, decency, empathy, morals, ability to follow the law,...on and on....
  • @EvangelismforGod
Many of these evangelicals lacked discernment and allowed Trump to play them like a fiddle. And the result is the testimony of the church has been severely damaged.
  • @LWfanboy
They're just noticing the lack of kindness?

At what point was he ever seen as being ‘kind’? They voted for him because he was going to carry out their agenda.
  • Isn’t this why there is supposed to be separation of church and state? Don’t put church in school or politics, and don’t put politics in church or school !
