We had a tour guide for our tour group and Andy was a GREAT guide. This area that has many government buildings and an amazing preserved royal city. This place is HUGE with tons to look at and picture opportunities galore.
I would make sure you have all documents in order as this area has multiple security checks. You need your passport book.
Bathrooms are available before you enter Tiananmen square ticket line, but be sure to have small coins because they do tend to charge a small fee.
