About 30 people are living in a California homeless encampment, right behind a town’s city hall. In Ojai, California, canvas tents built on wooden platforms are a step up from the previous site where unhoused people set up their tents. Ojai’s mayor hopes a $12.7 million grant could be a step towards a permanent home for many people. While Ojai plans to have the tiny homes constructed in the next two years, there is no word on where they will be located or when the construction will start.

  • The problem is not the homeless the problem is that everything is so damn expensive now. That’s the problem fix that issue and ppl will be able to afford homes and food along side all the necessities.
  • People need people. Be someone to somebody whenever you can.

It’s nice seeing them try to help these people instead of treating them like trash that needs to be gotten rid of.
  • in smaller towns it's almost impossible to get decent rentals, fingers crossed all those in tents find a home of their own.

Great start I’m glad to see words being put to action
  • I wouldnt have a problem with these encampments, if they didnt trash the surrounding area and make it unsafe for the rest of the neighborhood. I know its meant for working people who cant make ends meet. But as usual it will be ruined by ppl who arent trying to better themselves. There needs to be rules in these places and strict enforcement of the rules to keep them viable.
  • This is a good start please continue to helo the helpless and the needy ❤ akways jn Jesus name

Everyone needs a 'Hand Up" at some point in life. Bless them all for their kind work. End wars and do good for everyone.
  • This could happen to anyone, ❤ thankyou California for being humane and caring for the homeless ❤
  • This seems pretty different. People have shelters and big tents and stuff like that except what I usually see with smaller tents and drug addicts and stuff

Gee, California actually did something good!

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Hopefully, my representatives see this great effort and send our homeless to this place.
