I actually agree with the shorts, not in high socks, but wearing ankle socks in shorts makes them look so...good, i just don't get how or why, but they work

Get the uniqlo half socks for these shoes if you wanna wear shorts, wide leg looks way better if its a light colored denim tbh but the taper does show off the shoe a little better.
