We are losing the race against dangerous climate disruption and the ocean is at the forefront of the damage. Our current agenda is both too slow, not ambitious enough and the tools inadequate to give us a high probability of success. We need to expand our ocean-climate agenda, to what we call the four Rs - Reduce, Remove, Repair and Reach. I will talk about each of these from an ocean lens and highlight some examples from the frontiers of ocean-climate restoration.

Ocean Visions works to identify, test, develop and scale cutting-edge innovation to regenerate critical components of the ocean-climate system.
Previously Brad served as SVP Oceans at WWF-US; Executive Director of the Puget Sound Recovery Program for the State of Washington; and Regional Director-Americas for the Marine Stewardship Council. He earlier led conservation programs in the canyonlands of the Southwest and started his career working on community-based conservation in tropical forests and seascapes of Latin America. Brad received his Masters’ degree from Georgetown University and Bachelors’ degree at Macalester College.

    Really high quality information here. We are up against a mighty challenge, and it is probably more sociological than technological. Never before has humanity been required to act in concert as one community, to create for ourselves a livable future. Not to mention a desirable one. The good news is that if we succeed in averting an existential climactic catastrophe we will have created as a "collateral benefit" a world that works so much better for all humanity, and for all life on the planet. The good news is that the only way through is to do this - restore the atmosphere, regenerate our agriculture, renew and expand our forests, and take care of the oceans. And set aside our petty territorial squabbles so that we can get this all done, in just the next couple of decades.
