Welcome back to the “WELCOME BACK, EVERYONE”, everyone.
-
that stare in the beginning 😮💨
-
"We all wish Magnus the best. Or do we?" Vsauce music starts playing
-
"at the end of the day im js human" hits hard
-
I really like how your recaps always include really tactical sequences that go on for several moves, but also really simple one-move tactics such as the knight moving so the rook protects the pawn; both are explained really clearly and it makes the recaps really easy to follow.
-
Magnus magnussing as always
-
Hikaru is clearly the most iconic character of digital chess ❤
-
The stare at the beginning and "welcome back everyone" gets me every time 😹

All this talk about computer moves got me thinking. It's a new skill that separates GMs from Super-GMs: Knowing what to look for, what to expect and what the opponent will most likely calculate. There will be lines that, for a computer, are losing, but might succeed because a human opponent would not consider it in his calculations and/or would spent huge amounts of extra time if he does. It's probably what Tal did back in the day before computers were good: Creating situations that are uncommon and where the natural looking move is the one move that loses. In many of his games he started attacks that would be defendable by computers but he could bet on humans not being able to find the correct answers within the given time limits. In other words he played suboptimal moves that became superior by acknowledging the human factor.

6:00 love that he played the game out. Obviously saw what was coming but was a good sport
